Relentless Fab Bed Cross Bar Security

With using just one sized ratchet for installation, Im worried they are just as easy to steal as install.

Has anyone gotten any ideas to make these theft proof? At least a little more

I agree that if someone wants them they'll take the effort. A set of security bolts or torx might make it a little harder.

Something like this? You need a special bit to install and remove it. 90% of the time, if it's not quick and easy, people won't bother.

That's a security Torx. Would be perfect as not too many people have the correct tools to remove them. I have a set I bought to adjust the TPS on a motorcycle with - was the only thing on the bike that required that tool

All it takes is a flat blade screwdriver placed against the "rod" in the middle and hit with a hammer to break it off. After that, regular torx bits fit just fine.
It's still a deterrent though as a lot of folks don't have torx bits.

My hopes would be I'd here someone out there hammering on the truck but I know where you're coming from.

If someone wants it bad enough they'll get it.. Locks, bolts, hardware, alarms, windows, only keeo the honest thieves out.

I still maintain that in the majority of theft cases it was a quick and easy opportunity. in my neighborhood I've seen cars opened up and change stolen because the door was accidentally left unlocked, but we've never had a window broken to gain entry.

Just last night someone tried to rip the copper downspout off my church. Luckily it was soldered at the joint so all the guy did was bend it a bit. I sincerely doubt the same jackass will come back with a ladder and a sawzall, ya know. People like that are looking for an easy opportunity.
