Nice! I have a welder to do it, but I am not sure how well they would do without instructions. Did you feel it was a challenge having it built without being able to guide the person on how to build it?

my advice, be there for every step of the way, except when they are welding it solid, my guy was an idiot, the fit is horrible, if I want to use the reinforcement plates, I'm going to have to get the hoops cut off and redone, it's very hard to work with people who lie to your face and then expect you to pay for it

DAN FARMER (in case anybody decides to google it and sees my unofficial review)
    https://plus.google.com/104297438506474253185/about?gl=us&hl=en

btw without instructions, the kit from relentless is still very good, I was a little confused on a few parts, but this thread was able to help greatly. If your welder is semi competent and your truck is present, it should be no problem

so it basically starts off like this, he quotes me $250, no problem, I wanted to bring the pieces by to make sure he sees everything and is up for the job, I had a few other quotes, to be honest, were 300, and 400, so I decided to go with the cheaper one, not only because price, but because he was very confident in being able to do it, and seemed like a nicer old guy, probably in his 50's. So he sees everything, and agrees that it's no problem, so we agree on a time for me to come by and have it built on the truck, he confirms verbally, and via email that he won't do anything until I get there, so we can build it on the truck. The center piece is 4 pieces already tack welded together, so that can be reinforced without the truck, my welder says that's the only thing he'll do before I get there. When I get there the next week, he was excited to show me he was almost done with it, here is the work he did, of course it did not fit!!!

just looking at that bumper on my truck reminds me of how dumb he is, so then we sit there wondering why it doesn't fit, and how we need to adjust it, I tell him he needs to cut everything off and build it on the truck, so he says he doesn't want to do that, I asked him if he wants to call it quits and I can bring it to someone else, he leaves that up to me, and I tell him if he's up for the job, I have no problem having him fix it because he seems to be a good welder and can clean it up, he takes the job, and we decide that he'll cut the pieces off, clean them up, and start over, so when I get there the next week, we have this, which I was very pleased with, i thought we were on the right track, the fit was excellent, and then he says ok, he'll do the other side the exact same, and that I can go, I tell him, no, it needs to be built on the truck, so we can see what it looks like, so he tack welds them together, and we had to adjust it 2 more times to get it to look decent :)facepalm: i thought he learned his lesson the first time)

during that same time, I tell him, hey, lets get the hoops fitted too, he says that will take took long, so we hold them up, and angle them, and I tell him how they should probably be approximately, so over the week, I remind him twice, once he gets the hoops on let me come by and see it, so that we doesn't finish them off, and have to redo them, he says sure thing, he'll let me know. I thought everything was fine, until yesterday, it was supposed to be done, he told me I need to pay him before he starts on the hoops and makes any adjustments, so I tell him, we wouldn't need to make adjustments if he would just do it on the truck while i have been there. He says he should be charging me twice what he is, so I tell him, if I am going to come by and tell you where to put the hoops like i did the week before, and you are not willing to weld it in person, then it is completely pointless. so I tell him to finish it off, and I'll pay him, so of course, he doesn't really angle the hoops, and now the bumper won't sit on the mount without washers, and I'll need to get it cut off, and rewelded in order to use the winch reinforcement plates, not to mention one side is pushing up on my fender flares as we speak. here's what it looks like, it doesn't look half bad, but it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't fit, and how DAN FARMER is NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!

most likely leave it black cause then i'd need to get all the imperfections out and smooth it down, but who knows, i might change my mind

hey there, it's as is, no time to get it fixed until the semester is over, just threw a bunch of washers on it, if I wasn't planning on mounting the winch with the support brackets, i would probably just leave it as is, but there is no thread left to mount the support brackets

I started my diy 2012+ aluminum front bumper today. I'm about 6 hours into it. Got the center section welded up and lined up perfectly on the truck. It took awhile just to remove all the old stuff. Searching for all the little plastic clips and small nuts and bolts. Remove and reinstall headlights and grille. Took longer than I thought.

Hope to finish up tomorrow tacking all plates up and weld solid, maybe grind and paint on Sunday. I'm trying to pace myself.

Looks good so far though, I'll post pics when complete!
