OK, so I have a 2013 Xsp-x, and it has a nice TRD style front skid, but it has xspx cut out instead of TRD. I want to put on a westin sportsman, but I don't want to sacrifice the skid. Any mods or brackets to make this work? Thanks in advance!

Anyone attempted this? Possibly trim or cut out slots for the brush guard mounting brackets?

pics of how it mounts would be helpful. It doesn't seem many folks are running your same setup. The soup can metal the skid plate is made of is easily modified. I would lean toward modifying that rather than your brush guard.

And I was hoping someone had done this before, and had a pic of their skid plate after cutting it. Just to give me something to go by. Or maybe even measurements.

Xspx has graphics on bed, different fender flares, factory 18" black wheels, led daytime running lights below headlights, Predator bars, all weather interior with embroidered xspx on head rest (softex) carbon fiber trim inside, illuminates xsp-x logo on door step panel. Basically a TRD sport with alot of cosmetics. It's a South Eastern package.

Nice looking truck. Haven't seen one that's made it to the West Coast yet. I bet they would sell here too.

The westin sportsman isn't a bull bar. It's a full brush guard and it mounts to the same place as the skid, as well as support brackets that mount through the vents in the bumper. I'm aware that some think brush guards are damage multipliers, but I've hit deer at 50mph with this exact brush guard on my previous 06 Tacoma, and had zero damage. If I were to hit something more substantial such as a vehicle or a tree... I would agree the brush guard would push into my grille, and possibly bend the frame where it's mounted.

Having hit multiple deer before (rural Canada) your brush guard will only protect a straight on impact under ~60kmh, if you nail a deer on either of the front corners/fenders, that brush guard will do sweet pretty shite all.

    Just food for thought :D

Corners and fenders are vulnerable with just about any setup. I'm open to other options under $500 as long as they protect my radiator and headlights from a deer. And by the way Bluemile, I'm sure the deer in Canada are alot bigger. 200 lb whitetail is worst case down here. Lol

If you want the look, make it happen. And post pics - you might find others who want to do the same. For real protection, you already know you need a full bumper

I got a good deal on a westin for $300. So I decide to go that route. The skid plate would not mount. The support bar was hitting the brush guard bracket. So I removed the 2 bolts holding the skid to the support bar, drilled 2 new holes through the skid and lower bar of the brush guard, and it looks pretty good. The bend in the skid lined up perfect.
