So i haven't been on the forum in a while and i thought I'd update my build thread with what i've been up to lately. I haven't done anymore mods yet. I've just been chilling out and enjoying having some extra money again. Plus i started school again and i can't work as much :(

Anyway my next mods i have planned are shaved tailgate handle and a welded in roll pan from grant kustoms. At least that's the plan right now haha.

If you can't tell by now I'm not going for an all out off road machine. I respect those trucks that a lot of you guys build but I'm all about that bagged truck/show truck style and that's what i try and do with my truck so yeah i guess im a bro? whatever lets get to the truck :)

I thought it was a cool picture of my KIK sticker i have on my truck. It's really black but the sun caught it and made it looks white in the picture

I took my truck to Texas Heatwave in Austin (which was quite ghetto this year...) and showed it.

I ended up winning 3rd place in my class :) (comment on my broish flat bill hat. i know its coming lol. Its a KIK hat so relax lol

Me and my friends are friends with the owners of KIK and Crime Pays Video and we got invited to hang out with Status Customs and them at a photoshoot for the truck Colorblind.

x2 Your original grill looked better. Still an awesome truck though. Where did you get the first grill anyways?

I bought my truck used and it came on it. It was just a t-rex billet grille. they have them on their website or autoanything. I was actually going to just replace it with the same one instead of getting the rbp grille. Some of the bars were broken when i got the truck.

haha why not? seriously though there's no real reason other than i liked that one the best so that's why i bought it. it's like me asking you why you bought the wheels you did. the cheapest rim out there still would have done the job so why did you spend more for your wheels?

Thanks man! The shop i ordered it from gave me a really good deal on it too so it wasn't as pricey as it could have been.

I actually i have 2 of them though. The first one i got rusted in like a week so they sent me another one and never asked me to send the old one back haha.

The side vents were pretty bad and that like 3 months ago so it might be worse now. Also i forgot to mention the main grille didn't fit right so there was a huge gap between the grille and the grille surround.

Basically i had a lot of problems with their grille. The one that's on my truck now is my 3rd one. And I'm not trying to scare you away from it but I thought I should let you know because it's alot of money to spend on something like that. No one else I've talked to on the internet or at shows has had problems with theirs so I think I just got unlucky because my new one is great! RBP was going through owner and production changes at the time i ordered mine so I'm sure it was just a slip up in quality control. Thought I'd let you know though.

And the star and rbp badge are both removable. I've seen people with the star painted black and it looked pretty sick. I think that would look awesome on your truck! I do like satoshi though too. Let me know what you end up doing

I just saw the grill for the first time a few days ago. At first I thought it was awesome and was considering getting it once I get my truck, which will be white. Im leaning more towards just a straight grillcraft or something. T-rex makes an X metal grille that is pretty similar in style. I think it looks great on your truck. Bullbar looks more solid than the westin. I would go for something similar, but I think I may have somehting custom built that I hope can take a beating if the worst should happen (long story).

I spoke with a guy who owns a Tacoma and he didnt have very good things to say about this site (tw). You get some respectable guys and some that are just a bunch of punk brats. Your blowing them off, so that is the best you can do I guess. it is what it is. nice truck.

maybe the RBP problems youve had might be because your in Houston? You guys dont really have air down there do you? Arent you breathing water with all the humidity? idk

Yeah the X metal grilles are a good way to go. At the time i was considering buying one because i was planning on taking the star of the RBP grille anyway. At the time though the X metal had just come out so i wasnt sure how it was so that's why i went with the RBP. I'm sure you could always buy the star separately and put it on that one if you really wanted it.

I got the Aries just because everyone had the Westin hah. But yeah I hit a car and a wall with it and it did it's job lol. It's not bad for the price but it's still not super sturdy. Idk what you need it for but I don't know if it would hold up for you lol.

Yeah dude I have mixed feelings about this website. I mean when I was building my truck it was great I could look up how to do something, get ideas, and ask questions. It was seriously so helpful, but as soon as I started posting stuff everyone was such a dick to me. They still are but oh well. I'm just going to keep posting on here just to piss them off i guess. Me and my friend were trying to organize a Tacoma meet in Galveston and some people were like why would we want to meet with 2 "bro"ed out trucks, etc. The majority of the people on this forum either only care about offroading or don't do anything to their truck. If you have more of a show style truck they just like to hate i guess. Idk whatever. There's some really awesome people on here too!

Just put new Pro Comp mx-6 shocks on. These things are stiff as f*ck though so I'm going to take out my AAL and put a bigger block in the back to hopefully offset some of the stiffness. They're still pretty sick though.

EDIT: Disregard everything I just said. I bought the wrong size shocks haha. I need one with 6 inches more of travel. Ill be putting those on on Monday and they will hopefully work better haha.

Diggin it. Nice build. Its been said before, but I am on the fence about the star in the grill. The rivet look is tight though. The bull bar is no bueno IMHO. Headlights are nice. Sort of a variation of the ones on my piece.

Thanks! Yeah I don't like bullbars either but i love the way they look on our trucks. Just my opinion. Yeah my friend has the ones you have on your blue truck. Question for you. How bright are the ones you have?

I was actually thinking of uploading one for this thread so people could hear before and after DT headers but i never got around to it. To answer your question yeah i can do that.

Regarding my MX-6 shocks I have them on, and they're the right size and they're awesome. Best ride quality I've had.

What had happened was I called Pro Comp and they told me what part number would work for my truck. I then asked the website i bought them from what one would work and they said the same part number. By the way the website was Autopartsdealer.com. So I get them in and they look shorter and I was like well this is what both places said so i put them on and it was a tight fit. I went for a test drive and it felt like shit so i called Pro Comp again and they said you have the right one. So at this point i just wanted them gone so i call Autopartsdealer.com and basically tell them they are defective/don't fit my truck. The guy on the phone is the biggest asshole I've ever dealt with and he said tough shit. You should have known when you got them that they didn't look right. Now that you put them on we can't take them back.. This is after Pro Comp and his site told me to get that part number. He said i dont know who you've been talking to but that's the wrong part number. So I called Pro Comp and was basically like what the fuck and the guy was like let me check it out. He said the part number isn't printed right in the catalog.. But he was like its not big deal we'll take those back for you and get you the right ones. And everything worked out fine after that.

Moral of the story Autopartsdealer.com is horrible and be weary if you're buying from them and Pro Comp has awesome customer service and helped me out of a crappy situation.

The headlamps are not that bright. the LEDs actually seem brighter. I am thinking about popping some HID sets in the lamps. A bud of mine said he could get it done for about 50 bones. How about yours? They bright?

Yeah mine are really bright with HID's. I was asking because my friend has the same ones that you have and he put HIDs in and it wasn't bright at all. So I was wondering if he just got a bad one or if it was that specific design that wasn't as bright. After i posted that though he found out they weren't aligned right so after he aligned them they were much better.

But yeah I would definitely get HID's for them. Makes them 100x better. At least for me.

Cool. I'll have to give em a go. I noticed last night that one of the LED's on the vertical row is out too, so I'll have to fix that. Do you know if your bud had the same issue?
