Anything but fram or super cheap. Wix makes nice filters. OEM is probably good also.

Would it be wrong to run an aFe pro dry s filter on a K&N intake? Oh well, too bad if it is. Got the K&N intake cheap and don't care to fuck with oiling the filter so putting a 2.75" x 6 x 4 1/2 x 7h aFe cone on it. part #21-28003. Also gonna make a plexiglass lid for the filter area all TRD style and remove the oem baffle thing in the fenderwell so it'll mostly draw air in from there. Pics when done..............

As long as retailers are willing to state '15 hp, 20 lb.ft of torque, and 10 mpg gains' there will be those who will swallow the myth hook, line, and sinker.

"Tarded" is continually buying one use filters vs. buying one and using it for the life of the truck....whether it really is hiflow compared to paper oem or how much or no gain in mpg much less hp is irrelevant. Whether it is aftermarket intake or drop-in is also irrelevant. Buy once, clean it & reuse is the point.

I'm sure 3-4 of the oems will cost more than 40-50.00 for 1 dry flow drop-in or cone. Won't make sense for people trading vehicles in or tearing them up in less than 4 yrs. but I don't swap out mine that often. I rolled in my 1st toyota truck about as long as you've been on the planet. 1985-2009. "The" K&N I bought for it more than paid for buying paper filters for 500k miles. Roughly 15k per paper filter and 10.00 let's say, that'd be about 33 paper filters which would be about 330.00 IF they were 10.00 each. How does 50.00 not beat the shit out of 330.00?

My AFE Pro Dry was on sale for $50. The OEM filters were costing $20. My AFE paid for itself after 3 changes.

I'm at 90k miles, so I should have already had 3 filter changes. I've saved $10 over the OEM filters.

yeah, just bought a dry flo s cone for 50 shipped. 30k? not me. I clean my washable filters more than once every 3 yrs. Both my vehicles have washable filters and I do about 9k a yr on both of them. I also plan on a million miles of ownership on any Toyota I buy. Others are of course free to do as they choose. It may not be worth it for all, I understand that. If I leased or traded cars in every few yrs then I wouldn't waste time modding or changing a thing on them.

After market better for offroading since u have to change filters more often. Also increased airflow over oem setup

    So....

How many microns does the oem paper block and how many does the aFe dry flo s block? or the K&N? And for how long? Just saying it without any numbers to go with it is just kind of hollow. Narrow down the more dirt in engine for us. More dirt in engine could mean dusty environment vs. in-town cement environment regardless of filter type.

I've got the afe pro dry s filter...but not sure i like it. I seem to lose bottom end torque when i use the AFe.. Does anyone else notice this on their 4.0l?
I like the OE air filter by Denso..The Denso P/N Bpr7.. I also use the oe oil filter which you all know is made my denso.

Im using Ams oil XR 25,000 miles/yr.
