Ive had experience with both flowmaster and magnaflow exhaudt on my truck and the magnaflow is best hands down. My flowmaster used to rattle and drone on the freeway and with the magnaflow, it got rid of all that plus it sounds deeper and seems to be a bit peppier in the acceleration.

I've always thought Flowmaster sounded bogged down and garbled out, like when you hear one on a mustang and it sounds like its "drowning". I guess you can call it drone too, just not what I call sound good.

is this your youtube video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CphC5jrY1No
Is the super 40 loud? I want something for my truck, mainly just a muffler that can be swapped out without any "custom" brackets or anything having to be made. But I don't want it to be one of those trucks that you can hear coming up on you or a mile down the road. Just something with a deep tone at idle and mellow to moderate tone while driving.

My super 44 isn't really that loud just deep.....opens up when I punch it but at low rpm's and idle sounds ooooo so sweet! Keep the side exit and it'll sound better as it'll push the sound to the side reduce any poss drone. Mine is chopped under the truck and has hardly any drone but thought it was slightly deeper with the side exit (has to do with sounds bouncing off things instead of the street)!

I put a complete magnaflow SS cat back system on my 04 DC V6. Compared to stock, it sounds a little louder and much deeper. No drone.

If you put just the muffler on the EOM piping, it will not sound the same as a full Magnaflow system.

Yes, that is my video & I'm very pleased with the sound of my FM Super 40, it is on point with what you are looking for and I'm not just saying that because it's what I have. It has a nice deep tone at idle and low RPM's and does not drone at all around highway speeds. For the price I paid, I'm happy & no matter what anybody says on here, each will have their own opinion on what sounds good & what don't, period. It does not sound RICEY and that was my main goal for my purchase. For the muffler swap & getting it installed at local shop, $150 total.

This is exactly how I want mine to sound! We all I know it's everyone's opinion on what they like and you should get what you want since you're paying for it. Besides I like flowmaster better than magnablow anyways :D

I had a Flowmaster 40 on my '99 for about 5-6 months and just switched over to a 14" Magnaflow last month and couldn't be any happier :D

I enjoyed the Flowmaster and how loud and aggressive it sounded, but it really felt like it was hurting my truck more than nothing. Since I switched to the Magnaflow I've noticed an increase in my mpg's. From 15-16 at best with the FM and I'm averaging about 18 now :yay:

Flowmasters have restrictive chambers inside them designed simply to make noise. They can be known for both power and mpg loss. Stock has better flow.

Magnaflow Universal mufflers are completely straight through.
