Getting my 2013 DCLB set up for camping... Anyone have experience with the BedMat (as opposed to BedRug/Liner)? It seems the BedMat is the same as the BedLiner without the sides or tailgate section.

Is the BedMat as good/better than the old-fashioned plywoond/carpet setup? (from a comfort viewpoint--I know it is lightyears better for durability).

I guess what I'm really asking is: anyone slept on one? Are the bed's raised ridges made more comfortable?

    Thanks

If you are talking about the OEM Toyota bed mat , it is not flat , it has ridges

are you asking about the rubber bed mat? i haven't slept a whole night on mine but i imagine its better that sleeping on the ridges of the bed itself. there are raised portions on the mat though that over a period of time may get uncomfortable. i would still get something like a blanket or comforter to put down on top of the bed mat if i really wanted to be comfortable.

i have it (i assume you're talking about the BedRug mat). it isn't any different than the full liner as far as basic construction. it's comfortable enough and feels like you're laying on a carpet pad. can't tell there are ridges underneath and i'd imagine it's more comfortable and easier to deal with than plywood. i had it in my old truck years ago and slept on it all the time.

i added the tailgate mat a few days ago and for 50 bucks recommend it highly. makes sitting on it way more pleasant and the dogs can jump in/out without sliding.

besides not having tools and junk slide around the bed, another reason i got the mat was for my dog to stand on it instead of hard ridges.

I probably will have that also... And the BedMat is supposed to keep stuff from sliding around.

All in all about 200 total i think. We also have an airbedz to sleep on as an option. No issues with air loss or anything and the outlet in the bed keeps it charged/full anyways. I used to keep a futon mat rolled up in the back but that was like 10-15 years ago and my standards were a lot lower...

    ^^^^^THIS!!!!!

i have a truck bedz air mattress that worked great for about 5 trips, then at the seams small holes started happening. they have been all but impossible to fix. im about to just toss the thing and build a wood sleeping platform with storage underneath it.

the other downside to an air mattress is when its cold, the air in the mattress gets cold too. an insulated sleeping pad would get my vote.

I have the normal hard rubber bed mat in mine. If I am going camping and the bed is dirty, the bed mat gets washed with soap and water before the trip. I throw my Thermarest mat and sleeping bag back there and it's completely comfy.
