Anyone know of a tri-fold tonneau cover that allows use of stock side rail? I was going to order a bakflip but just read that it covers the stock side rail (with adjustable tie downs). Thanks!

i think most of the trifolds u can still use the rails

i have a tonnopro (which looks the same as a lot of other models) and my cleats are in the rails just fine

Extang. I have one and would recommend it.

Not a trifold, but just as, if not more, versatile, is the extang full tilt. I have it on 2012 short bed and it doesn't interfere with rail system. 2 mounting brackets for the tonneau fit inside the rails, so it will limit a little where things can be put into the rails, but this is a relatively small area.

Extang Tri-Fold works great, and uses the rail for front and rear attachment, leaving the rest of the rail for existing cleats and any other attachments you use.

I have the BAK Fibermax, love the cover but like you mention it kinda sucks loosing the side rail. I read a post a few days ago where they added rings to the mounting hardware for the cover rails. Havent had a chance to browse around HomeDepot yet for rings but plan to do this but its a good idea i think. The other option is to add a few of the OEM bed cleats to the sides of the bed. I just bought a few to use with the bed bolts, but they come with backing plates so you can install them anywhere on the bed.

I really wanted to get the BakFlip based on the way it folds and stays in upright position against cab but not being able to utilize the side rail is a deal breaker for me. The fold-a-cover never appealed to me bc i have to get the pop-a-lock hardware anyway to get bed secure. why do i need 2 locking features? Anybody know of another company that folds against cab enabling full use of bed without a key/lock feature?

You don't need to buy the pop-a-lock with the G4. The lock on the cover and the footman's loop attached to the tailgate keeps things pretty secure. You can't open the tailgate with the cover closed.

Doesnt fold to cab to give full access of bed :(

Anyone have any experience with the Undercover Flex? Does it allow usage of Tacoma side rail?

I have the Toyota tri-fold which is the same as the Extang Solid fold I believe.

I've found more people appreciate the Bak and Undercover style covers due to the quick "spur of the moment" use by folding up against the cab. Nearly 100% bed access, no tools needed.

$900 is a bit hard to part with - I get the whole solid cover, hinges, etc. but it seems a tad pricey in comparison to competitors.

    good thread folks.....

Not sure where you saw that price, but I paid much less than that, free shipping plus a free 2yr warantee. (not sure if I can post my actual cost here...so...) You may want to contact Steffens directly to see their prices.

I buy more expensive tools as well....they just seem to outperform lesser expensive tools over the long run...to each his own though.

I'm definitely going with the G4 when the time comes to get one. I rarely need my full bed so when I do, i'll just take it off. Love the locks and the opposite folding section near the cab.
