Could be useful, but our trucks don't really have all that much bed room to begin with... I'd be more interested if I had a Tundra or something.

I bought the Undercover in December and they had a free swing case that went along with it.

I just got it and installed. I like it. It's not going to carry 100lbs of tools but it's nice if you have a few you'd like to keep with you all the time. It also swings out and pulls up and is removable if you need your bed space.

A couple of things to note, the make sure you don't drill a hole that is too big for the self-tapping screws, I did that with the 1st one so I just have 3 on - 2 on top and on the bottom of the bracket. I'll re-drill another hole later.

There was a rubber bumper that was installed on the tool box part which should be on the bracket - pretty obvious when you have it all together as this will give some resistance when pushing the box to lock it against the side of the bed.

Here are a few pics... not bad for free.

I was checking these out for my first gen, because I think the concept is awesome, but they seemed really expensive (about $250 each!) and flimsy when I checked them out at a local store, and I recall reading reviews about them catching water and leaking. The foam "seal" was cheap and crappily applied.

I think most of us could do better finding or building our own boxes and finding some big gate hinge hardware, etc.

I decided to do something with some 20mm ammo cans that will fit in the same location instead (on the workbench, haven't started yet, down the list a ways...)

I agree 100%... the cheapest I found w/quick search was $183 and I would never pay more than $80 for this.

It was however a freebie and with the undercover installed means it's less exposed to the elements so I doubt leaking will be an issue.

It's not a terrible product... but yes, not worth more than $80 IMO and that's stretching it... Free however, is much better. Sorry, I wasn't posting to say it was the best thing since sliced bread, just showing the install.

No, I totally get what your saying, didn't mean to sound like a wanker.;) I would gladly have them for free! I have a cap on, too, so weather tightness wouldn't be an issue...just sayin' for guys with open beds, who would also be worried abtou security. Hell, you can almost get aluminum or steel porkchop boxes for these prices, but none seem to fit non-full-size beds....

Dude, if I hadn't of seen the pictures, I wouldn't have considered it looking at the bracket pics on the website.

I would be getting mine mostly free, I have an Amazon gift certificate. :D

I was thinking about getting something like that, but they really are too expensive for what it is and didn't seem all that durable. I thought it was a very cool concept though.

SwingCase, driver side. PVC Bike rack. Aftermarket stereo.
I have one in the garage. I bought it a while back, and used it for about 6 months. I then freed up some space in the cab, and started carrying a few less things. And most importantly, my bike rack fits in the bed better without it in there (3 bikes).

I had 0 problems with it, and still thinks it is a great product. I will probably sell mine in the not too distant future.

If you need the space, I like it very much.

Loving mine. Ive had it for 6 months now, i use it every day. It is not secure or big enough for large items, so its not a replacement for a real truck box, but very convenient, practical and functional for misc tools and tie downs. i need a toolbox and with the small bed i didnt want to sacrifice the space to a truck box, so this was a good fit, and is removable.

One complaint, mine is loaded so it's fairly heavy, and the weight has caused a bit of sag in the hinge assembly, so to get it to release from its fixed position i have to use my free hand to give a little help lifting while i release the catch, not a big deal but its an example of it not being heavy duty.

I paid $160 for it, definitely overpriced, but id buy it again. I looked at making my own but the hinge with the nice release catch would have been tough to beat, and what i would have built would have weighed more and looked clunkier.

I think that the Undercover Swing Case is pretty neat. The only big issue that I had with it is the $250(CDN) it cost for one. $500.00 for two didn't seem worth it. You can get a bigger size tool box for that much. Even for a tool box that goes on the rails of the bed is cheaper, not by much though. I guess if you're really strapped for space then this would work really well for some people.

Not bad in terms of longevity. I had mine for a couple of years now, no major issues. It is under a cap, so I couldn't attest to how well it would hold up in weather. Pretty easy to take out if needed, and my release still works fine.

I just saw this at Ziebart and fell in love with it. It is pretty much what I need, just a little more space, yet I can remove it quickly for 4x8 sheets. The pictures you guys have posted are great!! The pictures alone answered my questions about it. :) I won't be paying Ziebart $299 for it though! Ouch!! You guys said its no big deal to install. I can't see paying them $100 to drill four holes. :) Thanks for the great discussion on these!!

Any pics as to how they fit according to wheel well? Stick out same as or how much more when folded? Do they rotate all the way out 180 from starting position? Mount under extant solid cover?
