6000k super white is the brightest hid, (depending on where you get it from, some run hotter and have blue tint) that is true you loose lumins the higher kelvin you go (over 6000k) but is also true the opposite, anything under 6000k you loose lumins aswell as it turns yellow.
All of this is based as an average, some run hotter or cooler and change the tint of the hid loosing lumins.

My bulbs are 4300 kelvin (daylight) and offer the maximum light output for a 35w bulb. A 55 watt bulb maxes at 5000 kelvin I believe. Jeremiah's the guy for this kind of talk.

I wanna compare your fxrs with my minis. Seriously contemplating selling my setup and upgrading to the fxrs. Probably wouldn't do it till next winter though.

That's why you do it right the first time. I've always spent more than anyone else on similar items, but I've not been in your shoes. And I like it that way. That is to say, until I saw Jeremiah's 55watt ballasts that I distinctly remember him talking me out of because they would melt the lenses. I think he did it just to one up me. ;)

Haha oh trust me, I usually save and do it right the first time. That's why I haven't bought 5100s and an AAL. (No offense for anyone that's running those...) The minis are still WAY better than stock, but...MOAR LIGHT! I think I have the Blackdawg lighting syndrome...

"Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics; even if you win, you're still retarded". In light of that I will state a few scientific facts, and if someone disagrees I will disregard your ignorance and recommend that you do some research, learn some science, make the world a better place...

An ideal truncated black box light source peaks at 5800K (also the surface temperature of the sun); however, only 37% of that output is within the visual color spectrum.
Fast forward through lots of wavelength, frequency, science stuff we arrive at this:

High grade consumer products, ie: Denso, Phillips, Morimoto, will have a peak lm/w of about 92 @ 4300K.
Output decreases nonlinear to the +/- of color.
    3200lm/35w @ 4300K
    3100lm/35w @ 5000K
    2800lm/35w @ 6000k

Lumen increase is found to be about +1% /w, so an output of +20% from 35w and 55w.

    3800lm/55w @ 4300K
    3600lm/55w @ 5000K
    3300lm/55w @ 6000k

My reason for using 5000K @ 55w is because I'm achieving +400lm to the 4300K 35w, I like to contrast it provides, and I'm not putting an additional 200lm into the oncoming traffic. If I were using a 35w system, I would absolutely use 4300K.

    Peace!

Pretty ironic actually, I drove up last night with anohter guy on my flight and I was just thinking how nice it felt to know that I finally had a big solid bumper in front to protect the rig and myself in the event of a collision with our ohh so smart wildlife (Moose/Caribou) and last night I swear ive never been so close to hitting so many damn moose in my life. Me and another buddy hit one two summers ago driving back in his bronco and I had a few close calls in the audi last winter with some caribou but last night was retarded. It was like they were attracted to the front of my truck. just outside cantwell a momma moose and her two babies thought it would be smart to dart across the road as we were comming downhill towards them and then when we honked so that they would move faster the all of a sudden turned and started running away from us but in the middle of the freakin road as were slidding towards them. Another 3 feet and one of the babies would have been toast lol. Another time as we were leaving healy we had just got up to speed (65-70) I told taylor to flip on the BA spot lights nick helped me put on last night and sure enough just has he did off in the distance theres a big ass bull taking his sweet time crossing the road and it didnt seem to bother him at all when we slid to a stop just a few feet short of him. Then the last incounter was seriously 1/2 a mile away from the main gate I mean its in site and the tension is dying down from the bad weather and close calls and suddenly I see another bull moose down the road and hes crossing, he gets to the other side well before we get to him and hes headed for the trees. Hes a few steps away from being back in the tree line by the time we get closer to where he had crossed and he turns around runs all the way back across the field and across the road right in front of us and back into the tree line on the other side of the road where he originally came from. I swear they must think its a game. So moral of the story is that before the bumper was put on I was worried about hitting anything but never had any close calls in the truck. Now I have the equipment to do some serious damage and I felt better about possibly being in a collision and there everywhere freakin retarded lol. Thanks again nick for the help, those lights deff saved our asses last night. Cant wait to put HIDs in em :p

I love it. no offense to nick even though I know he agrees with me but it deff looks better on my doulbe cab than it did on his access. Just looks a bit more beefy. Love the ligths too. Only thing I need to do now after driving up last night is I need to find a way to make a cover or shield for the two 500ffs up on the windshield cus theres a bit more glare than I would like. So I just have to fab up something that will block the light on the insides of the lights so they dont reflect so much.
