    Howdy,

I'm planning a 3" lift in the future and could use some ideas on carring a 285/75R/16 spare.

I have a 2012 DCORSB taco, Snugtop XV shell w/ bedrug, yakima rack & factory roof top cab rack.

I would strongly perfer not to store the spare in the bed as I need all the room I have for camping gear and my dog. I also have my Thule T2 hitch mounted MTB rack installed year round. I frequestly have four MTB's (two on the hitch rack & two on the topper) on the truck for day trips or weekend adventures.
So a rear bumper swing away woud be challanging. In addition I do not want to obscure my rear view back up camera. Plus the dog rides in the back, so I'm opening that topper window and tailgate several times a day.

Has anyone been able to fabricate a rear bumber / swingway solution that works with a T2 MTB rack and does not obscure the back up camera?

So, any suggestions or alternate methods?

    Cheers,

    Salt

I believe you can mount it in the location of your current spare tire. You'll just have to cut off some tabs. The is a link some where on what to do. Im sure someone else will chime in.

I saw somewhere, can't say if it was here, but someone put a swing away tiregate, and remounted the camera on it in the center of the tire.
They did something to where it has a quick disconnect for when he removed the wheel

Will a 265/75R/16 fit under the bed w/o mods?

If I can fit one of my current Cooper AT3's (265/75R/16) under there I'd say that's close enough to limp to the flatlands w/ 285's. Just put the spare 265 on one of the front wheels.

    Cheers,

    Salt
