I am looking to put shocks all around and front coils on my 01 access cab 4x4.
Also putting new set of tires. My goal is great handling on twisty mountain roads. Slightly aggressive tread on p265 70 tires for non plowed Forrest service roads in winter. What packages do you recommend. Thanks

How much lift? What's ur budget?

Raising a truck won't do much for the twisties.

Oooo...I can help you out with that...

First, check your other suspension parts: with an 01, you'll have to pull apart your front coils to replace the shocks: if you need new front coil springs now's the time.

I replaced my front coils, rear leafs and all four shocks with Old Man Emu Nitrocharger sports, 881 coils and rear Dakar leafs. Couldn't be happier. It has made such a difference.

As for tires, living here in Alaska, I decided to go studless and the tire I've bought twice now is a Toyo G-02 plus. Terrific on snow. Pretty good on ice (not as good as a studded tire, however). Since they're on my truck for 9-10 months out of the year, I went with studless.

Great quality. Did I say terrific on fresh snow?

Wasn't looking to lift it. Just figured I could do better than stock since my originals are worn. My leafs are new from a frame switch two years ago. Can I get away with keeping them and still benefit from upgraded shocks and coils. It's a 2.7 with 235k if that makes any diff.

Try bilstein 5100s and just set them for zero lift up front.... And the rears don't lift anyhow so ur golden.

What makes u think the front coils are dead out of curiosity?

Good tips. And why the hell haven't I seen you in the AK threads?

I second OME stuff. 880s with nitrochargers would give you about stock height and ride great. Rear you could swap out the shocks for billy 5100s if you already have new leaf springs and I think it'd ride great.

I would say duratracs for tires. Very aggressive tread but still considered an all terrain tire. Great in the snow and I think they look pretty awesome as well. That's what I'll be switching to when I can pony up the cash.

I don't know the coils are bad just figured at 235k and changing shocks I might as well do coils. I strongly believe I can get another 100k out of this truck.

I strongly believe you can too.

I wasn't looking for any sort of a lift for my truck either, but I'd be damned if I was going to replace worn out stock with more stock parts. That's why I went with an aftermarket upgrade. It's made a tremendous difference.

It also raised my truck up another 1.5-2.0 inches or so, I'd guess. Oh well...
