Had my truck for two weeks now and have trying to decide which retractable bed cover is the best for me. I just want to secure toolbox and other stuff in bed. Of course I'm looking at price versus durability and known problems/issues. I would really like some input and opinions. Also if anyone has pictures of either of the covers on long bed I definitely would like to see fit on rails/side of bed. Also does this render side rails from being as tie downs? I will also be installing Pop&Lock on tailgate. I will be hauling bike just about every weekend somewhere.

    Thanks,

    Warrenroadie

I looked at Truck Covers USA and they are little more money wise than others, appear to have good reviews on Auto Anything almost 81% 5 stars. Does anyone else have good or bad experience with Truck Covers USA?

i had the pace edwards for a few years and absolutely loved it. i had the full metal one though, no vynil. i could stand in the middle of ther cover and not worry about bending or breaking it. very well built, and offered a lot more security than the soft equivelants. it had a lock, and paired with a tailgate lock, i had waterproof, lockable storage.

I had a Pace Edwards top on my last truck (full size Dodge). It was ok and did the job, but there's a trade off. First, you have to keep the canister clean of leaves or the drain tubes will clog. That allows the canister to fill with water and rust the spring. Mine worked pretty good for about 5-6 years and then it wouldn't slide too easily. The spring finally broke around the 8 year mark and the vinyl started to lift off of the underbody around the 10 year mark. I sold the truck soon after. Snow load wasn't an issue but you couldn't stand on it. With the top and a locking tailgate, you essentially have a trunk. Don't expect it to be completely watertight and the canister will take up some room in the bed. This time I went with a tri-fold mainly due to cost but also because they come off quickly.

I did a lot of research and bought a Roll'n Lock. I installed it myself to save installation. I use it continually and it works perfectly. If you do go this way be sure to have a small inspection mirror to check that the rail clips are seated properly, it's a little tricky but things work excellent if these clips fit perfect. I would do the same again if I changed trucks.
