I often find myself rolling my tonneau cover half way up to throw something small in the bed. Is there some way to secure the cover so it doesn't unravel on the highway?

    Thanks

Good question. I've found myself doing that occasionally as well. I'd love to hear some ideas on this as well.

    stock, for now
Don't get a soft cover. They are not made to unroll part way. I love my extang solid fold. 3 pieces and its folded completly open.

If you want to do the partway thing, get a hard retractable. They open and lock every 12" i believe.

I think the point is that we already have the soft cover. And since mine's working AOK I'm not willing to spend a few hundred to replace it. But this issue does happen. I plan on a soft top when the funds accumulate, but we have to work with what we have until then. My truck came with the soft top and I like it for the most part, but when I buy 2x4's and other stuff, I have to leave the last foot or so open for the boards to stick out. Then the top gets all floppy. So, if anyone has any experience or suggestions, that would be cool!

I've had soft tops before.......and I always just unrolled it entirely and secured it with the supplied straps at the cab. The rolled up tops were always a PITA.

Pardon my thinking here.... If you had a couple pieces of wood (width of the bed). Say 2x2..... Fold the cover at the desired location (so the cover hangs down into the bed). Place one piece of wood in front of the cover (at the fold). Secure it somehow. Take the cover that is hanging in the bed and roll it over top another piece of 2x2 and create a point that the two pieces of wood can attach to each other acting like a 'clamp' ?? So the cover doesn't come unrolled?

    I dunno...just a thought....

I have an Advantage Torzo top now, it's a soft tri-fold cover and I'd never ever go back to a rolled up cover.

Pick up some Binder clips from Staples, Walmart, etc. Use as a clamp once you have your cover rolled up to where you want it. Cheap, easy to use and will stay put once you clamp it on. Problem solved.
