Folks, Hopely someone can clear up my confusions. I have a 2010 4 door short bed TRD. I want to but a brush gaurd on the from that will protect the lights and grill. However, after reading MANY treads hear and elsewhere most say that the brush guard will not fit if you have the front skid plate on.

The brush guard looks like this:

And is the standard Westin type.

The pictures I have seen of the standard from skid plate look like this:

    or this:

However, on my truck a 2010 TRD the from underside looks like this:

    and this:

    and more:

So... Can I install the Westin Brush Guard? The skid plate on my truck doesn't look the same as those in other threads saying that it has to be removed.

    Does anyone know for sure??

    Thanks Dave.

Yes, you can install it. That silver skid plate in the first pictures is an OEM accessory, and if you had it you'd have to remove it to run a brush guard. Since you don't have it you're all set.

    Thanks!
I wonder if the truck had it when it was new? I purchased it this year used. Only had 35K miles on it. I though all of the 2010's had the skid plate.

    Best, Dave

That silver one is a front TRD skidplate that's an add-on accessory and used in conjunction with your standard skidplate. Unfortunately, both are flimsy and will not withstand against any mishaps, definitely not for offroading. You will have no mounting issues of the brush guard and your setup.

Purchased the Aries Off Road Grille Guard. Waiting on delivery. Also, looking for a good video or directions on how to install...
