Hi guys. Can I get an opinion on the best tri-fold soft bed cover for my 2012 Tacoma with a 6' bed? There are lots of brands out there and they all kinda look the same and attaches the same. Just curious if there was on that stands out above the rest. Thank you in advance for your time.

Extang tri-fold. It's a bit more expensive but the quality and durability is there. Have mine for 18 mos now with no issues. Easy install, open/close.

Amazon has the Extang for $338. Is that similar to what you paid? Otherwise can you recommend a better seller? (Yeah I'm a new Tacoma owner and still trying to figure stuff out.)

I also have an Extang Trifecta on my truck. It was on it when I bought it, so not sure about cost but I like it a lot. I think it's much easier than the rollup ones and for the rare case that I need the entire bed length for something tall it comes off in no time.

Just got the Rugged Liner soft tri-fold. Too early to tell about being watertight, but it looks like it seals up well.

$410 installed at my local Truckin America

Extang TriFecta has been flawless for me. I think it has been on my 2010 for about 4 years now. No leaks, no trouble opening, closing, flipping, installing. I bought mine online at AutoAnything.com for about that price, probably waited till I had an online coupon code.

I've got a Rugged Cover Tri-Fold http://ruggedliner.com/tonneau-covers/ that I picked up off Craigslist for $100. It was missing the brackets that slide into the Tacoma's bed rails, but a phone call to Rugged and they sent them to me the next day. No charge! That's good service!

    The cover's holding up well.

I used to have an Advantage Torza Top. Bought it new and it lasted 7 years before it developed holes in the vinyl. The truck and the top were parked outside 100% of the time exposed to everything and all the winters.

I don't know how long any of the tops last...... but 7 years is pretty damn good. Th framing & such is alluminum and will last almost forever.

I actually bought a replacement vinyl top - but had one hell of a time getting it installed on the frame. No instructions and no patience....I ended up giving the entire thing to someone else. I am currently topless. ;)

I found the Extang Trifecta on Amazon for $338 (almost $100 less than other retailers). It's not sold or processed by Amazon but by a third-party vendor by the name of Acme Warehouse. I purchased it at about 11 am this morning and I received the shipping notification e-mail shortly after 2 pm this afternoon. I'll report back upon its delivery, concerning the condition of the box and its contents etc... I hope it looks as good as the one on Jere's Tacoma.

Meant to say I hope it looks as good as ones displayed by Car78412 and Jere (I mistakenly assumed the same person had posted a pic of his Tacoma with the Trifecta). Apologies.

The Extang Trifecta arrived today -- two days after ordering it on Amazon, through Acme Warehouse. Free standard shipping for them means two-day Fed Ex shipping. The packaging was good. Everything was there. The install took 20 minutes. Looks amazing. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow.

If anyone needs a tonneau for their Taco, this is a good one. The packing dust came off with a quick wipe down with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I have Extang on my '11 since it was about new. No problems with the cover and it does keep the bed dry. I especially like the fact that it is easy to completely remove when I need the full bed

I don't have a long box but I had a tonnopro for a little bit, I do still have it, it kept bed dry and was nice. I only stopped using it because I got a tool box for it or it would be on the truck right now

Can you explain why you like it better than the rollups? I am debating between the two currently. What's it like when you drive with your cover rolled up?

You can get a bed cover to accommodate that.

It's model 44915 for the 6-foot beds. Mine arrived yesterday. Since my previous post I've had a chance to take it on the highway. It's solid. The only noise is an occasional squeak from the rubber seal resting atop the cab bed wall. No regrets.

In response to the question above, I went w/ the trifold simply due to the engineering behind the design. You can have it completely covered, 2/3 covered, or 1/3 covered. Otherwise total removal is a matter of unscrewing by hand two wing screws near the cab (less than a minute). Also, look at install instructions for, say, the Access roll up before buying one. Another benefit of the trifold: silent removal to access cargo in the middle of the night when camping -- as opposed to the obnoxious Velcro noise...

The two places where you can see the edge of the vinyl coming up a bit is where the fold points are. I had just unfolded it and folded it back up before snapping that photo. After driving to work today, I noticed that they were barely noticeable. Also, I've read in other reviews that they go away entirely after exposure to just a couple rain falls and break-in. Some comparison videos show how some roll-ups (ones requiring replacement of factory rails) sit flush inside the bed walls for a sleeker lower profile look. I imagine that would invite a greater propensity for leakage in storms. But in any event, the vinyl on these Extangs (guaranteed for 10 years) are good enough quality that they actually enhance the look of the truck in my opinion. $338 is the least expensive among the online retailers that I've seen, and that's through Acme Warehouse on Amazon. In reality, I don't think you could go wrong with any modern tonneau from a reputable company, be it Extang or Access. Good luck.
