I have a 2014 DCSB and am wanting to get a tonneau cover for it, but im not really sure what kind i want. So i wanted to ask everyone what the pros and cons are for them. I do not want a full shell because if it has to come off i have nowhere to store it. I have been looking at the trifold ones, but cant find one where it folds all the way up to the cab, only the ones that fold to the last piece (which you lose about 14-16 inches of bed) when that happens. So please feel free to tell me what you like or hate about your tonneau cover. I really like the versitilaty of the, just not sure which to get.

Also, i searched the forum and couldnt find a writeup on this, but if someone has a link to it, if there is one, i will gladly look it over!!!

If you need the cover to expose the truck bed up to the cab, get a roll up cover. I havn't seen a tri fold that can. I have an Extang tri-fold.

I'd suggest an Access Tonnosport cover. It's a rollup that velcros on either side (much better than snaps) and locks in at the tailgate. They're inexpensive and super easy to roll up/back. It comes with some more weatherproofing stuff too, but I haven't used it. TBH, I figure that any tonneau cover is going to be waterproof/snowproof enough for me-better than just the open bed.

Have you checked out a Bestop or Softop? A lot of the same benefits of a hard top, but they can fold down kind of like a convertible and you have complete access to the bed. I went this route because, like you, I don't have anywhere to store a hardtop.

I would recommend the Advantage Torza Top. I have that on my first gen, but they also make it for the second gens. Completely waterproof, looks awesome and you can take it off and put it on in under 60 seconds. It also folds up tightly, so if you don't want to take it off but still want to use the majority of the bed you just fold it back and clip it in. Also, its cheap. I've had mine for two years and it looks brand new and works like the day I bought it. Just buy a pop and lock tailgate locker and you are good to go.

I have tons of pictures of it being used in action on my build thread if you want to see it and get an idea.

    Pros:
    - Waterproof
    - Looks great
    - Easy to put on and off in under a minute
    - Tri fold
    - CHEAP
    - Made in USA + Lifetime Warranty :oldglory:

    Cons:
    - Still leaves the last fold covering your bed if you keep it on (but you can just remove it in 30 seconds and use the full bed so that doesnt even matter).

I have a roll up cover by Access. Had it for about 3 years now and it's holding up very well.

    Pros:
*rolls up or out in seconds.
*You don't lose any precious bed space.
    *water tight.
    *Easy to clean.

    Cons:
*I can sometimes hear it flap (with windows down) and high speeds when closed. I just adjust a little tighter and it helps some.

Access LE roll up cover. I've had it for 4.5 years now. It's not 100% waterproof, but i don't see how any roll up can be. It does keep 99% of the water out, and the stuff that does come in just trickles down the corners and under the bed mat, so my stuff stays dry anyway. I just replaced the velcro on it last week, and it's like a brand new cover now. Very happy with it.

Another vote for Access. Prices and quality are great. Pulls tight like a drum and it lies perfectly flat across the the bed. Looks really clean.

Ding. Have one as well. Pretty solid cover at a decent price. Really like the rollup functionality of mine as well.

What velcro did you replace, the pieces on the rails themselves? Where did you get it from too, thx?

    Some stuff...
I love mine and might not get a topper (hard or soft) now. It keeps my trash dry when down, rolls up in a flash to haul stuff, and I can still throw a truck tent in the bed with it rolled up for camping.

Yeah, the velcro on the rails. It's a really easy job, about 20 minutes tops. AgriCover sells a kit for the velcro (#30474) for about $40 on Amazon. But, I went to a local truck accessory shop and asked if they had any in stock, and they sold me 12 feet (more than enough for my DCSB) for 50 cents a foot, so it only cost me $6. I recommend some kitchen shears for cutting the new velcro to size.

Advantage Torzo Top here also. I've had it a year and have no complaints. I only had a small amount of water get in the bed once on a 300+mile trip where it poured rain all the way. And it was literally only an ounce or so of water.

I bought mine from Luke @ Truck Alterations. He is a vendor here, and gave me the best price I could find at the time with great customer service and fast shipping. I highly recommend them.

I'll add to the access crowd, I have the literider and love it. It's my second one of these, had one on my 1st gen and this one came with my 09. Access customer service is great, the original one on my 09 developed a small tear and when I called their cs I was offered a replacement cover for $45. It wasn't the entire setup, just the cover itself but after I replaced it I basically had a brand new one for only $45.

Whatever you get a roll up is the way to go unless you need absolute security.

Extang Solid Fold is the way I went. Here is my review. Almost two years and still no leaking and able to use side rails. Key is putting it on correctly. It offers better security than some that use wires to open. A hangar and someone is inside within a minute or so. Got it from Truck Alterations. Tell him your on TW and get a good discount.
