Rear clamps fit perfectly. Front ones do not.

Hmmm...Looks like they changed the front clamps. Mine did not come with any of that. Both front and rear clamps are the same on my cover and both mount to the side rails. It looks like yours clamp onto the front rail?

Also as you can see the rear clamps attach to the rail on the very end and I do not have the end cap on (this was specified in the instructions to remove)

This one shows the front clamp above the wheel well

I don't know why they would go backwards in design....this is ridiculous. I'm going to have to call the company :(

I would contact them for sure and see if they can send out the older model. Let me know how it works out. Good Luck

Called and spoke to "John" at Advantage Truck Accessories (1-800-773-3110). He informed me that on June 2nd, 2014 they updated the cover to a screw clamp on the front because it is safer and more secure. The brackets are only needed for the front two clamps. I DID NOT tell him that i plan on cutting the clamps down to make them fit in the bed rail WITHOUT the brackets.

I said and i quote, "i don't know why they would go backwards in clamp style."

John: "well i wouldn't consider it going backwards, its just a safer...more secure, and updated style of clamp that we think will work better."

At that point i kind of died inside. :boom:

I do not like this update at all but i told him that i guess it makes since because it will not come loose as easily as a lever clamp may....and he agreed. He was nice and helpful even though i wasn't entirely.

All this nonsense and fortunately it wasn't for my truck....i'll probably try another brand when i get soft trifold for mine. I got this cover for my dad because his old EXTANG snap cover is the biggest pain in the ass second ONLY to my cap.

    Thanks for the update.

I can see how it would be more secure in the event you are driving with it in the folded position and the wind caused the retaining straps to give way. This happened to me when I didn't have them snapped in all the way and fortunately I was just on a 35 mph access road. It still slid down the side rails toward the rear of the truck about a foot without damage.

The new design looks like it also would make it not as quick to remove and reinstall, which is why I bought mine. I can easily stand at the side and remove the clamps with one simple turn of the clamps handle. It looks like you might have to get into the bed of truck to undo or secure the new clamps.

If I were to do it again...I would probably spend a little more and get a hard BakFlip so there is no need to remove the cover to have access to the entire bed.

They suck to unscrew....on a lifted truck, you'd probably have to climb in the bed to undo them simply because it would be so uncomfortable to try to turn them while reaching over the bed. :/

I was also looking for ease of removability...

    I'm now looking into TunnoPro

I love the idea of the backflip g2 because of the optional tool box up front but they are soo damn expensive...

It still really pisses me off that the one thing i bought this tonneau for has now been ruined by time and coincidence. Had i got this thing for him earlier in the year, i wouldn't have had this issue.

I bought it solely because i like those lever clamps that tuck up in so nice and would reach the bed rail system with no additional clamp that would stay in and be in the way when the cover is not installed. Because the way i see it, why have a removable trifold tonneau (at least they advertise it as such) if the WHOLE thing is not removable in a timely fashion? :annoyed: :pout: :frusty:  :censored:

Thank you very much for your help Eric. I really appreciate it. Sorry for taking over your thread
