I have an 05 4.0 litre and am looking at adding a borla cat back and a kn cold air intake are they worth the money? Any alternative suggestions for cheaper alternatives that are as good

This. Make sure you get the Dry filter, not the oiled filter.

Also, search the forums. Tons of info answering this already.

Both intake and/or exhaust will provide nominal power gains. Mostly just more noise.

Look into the Banks as well. Just did one at the shop on a 2014 Tacoma and it was impressive as far as sound goes.

The Tacoma has a stock cold air intake. It is in the RHS wheel well.
All the air under the hood is less cold.

i would switch out filter for a performance one and youtube some exhaust vids of the tacoma. The consensus seems to be to change the muffler to the one you like the sound on best and put a tip on if desired

intake and exhausts add power at high RPMs, and generally rob a bit of low end torque.
Do you really wind your truck up that much?

If you like the sound go for it! If you're expecting much of a change in power save your money

I'm not looking for much power just an aggressive sound but not obnoxiously loud
