Hi everyone, This is my first post on here, but I'll just dive right in. I need to replace my rear shocks on my 2004 Exted Cab. Everyone is pretty happy with there Bilstein so I ordered a pair of the 4600 series, however, i got an email that says they are on backorder and I won't get them for about a month. Does anybody have any other suggestions for good quality shocks for around the same price. I'm not lifting or anything like that. I just want good quality for a resonable price. I drive this thing everyday.

    Thanks everyone.

Bilstein 4600 would be just a basic OEM replacement shock. You can go on Rock Auto and check out the other brands (Monroe, KYB) available for your truck.

bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
I just got a set of rear Rancho 5000 for under $100 with shipping...Some folks don't like them, but I have yet to fail one in service...my 68 Dodge Utiline has been running same set for a decade. Rock Auto has them.

I have also order the 4600's for my stock 87 yota. Called the rep at Bilsteine and she said production of the 4600, s will begin on September 15th. That's why they are all on back order. I'm in no hurry, so I'm just going to wait it out. Good luck.

They moved their manufacturing plant so they were not producing anything for a month. Some shocks are in stock but the most popular shocks for tacomas are out of stock right now.

I too have been looking for the 4600's. I have a 2004 Tacoma Double Cab 4X4 TRD SR5 V6. I need 4 shocks now to pass PA State Inspection. Can anyone on TW recommend an alternative to the Bilsteins? I see some say they are the only brand to buy, but I don't plan on lifting my truck and use it for highway use primarily. If I go with the KYB MonoMax are they comparable? How long should they last? If not KYB then what is a decent comfortable ride other than the Bilstein?

    Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the advice! It's a little late to repost this, but I went with the Rancho RS5000 for my rear shocks and they work great! It was like a whole new truck. Sorry I don't have pictures, but the replacement took about an hour and those old shocks where KILLED.

How long did the install take? I had to remove the top nuts on mine with a grinder...

Oh man it only took about an hour and that was at an easy pace. I didn't jack it up or I didn't remove the spare tire. My truck has a frame that is a little over a year old but those shocks were done, man. I'm gunna see if I can up load a photo on here.
