I see the K&N air filters are $50. Are they worth the price? Will they help any with MPGs?

Nope. Had one. Went back to OEM. No change. Less maintenance.

NO! you will not experience any increase in MPG. Slow down and leave the truck stock or install a SC and slow down.

I've heard drop-ins dont really do anything different at all and to stick with OEM.

They are reusable. You do get that but, its a little time consuming to clean and oil them.

I have been using K&N since 2006. Better mileage, eh, maybe 1/2-1 mpg if any. Save money in the long run, probably, especially since they lowered the price on the recharger kit. I had 175,000 miles on my 2007 V6 and it had a K&N in it all it's life with no ill effects, it's now in my 2014.

If you do buy one, save your paper filter to reinstall when you clean the K&N. It takes a few hours to dry before you re- oil it.

I agree with this. I have had them in vehicles for over 20+ years and never any issues. It definitely has saved me money on factory filters over the years. It was one of the first things I bought after I brought home my Tacoma.

I cannot comment on dust as I never experienced this. Then again I have never been a truck off roader so maybe that is why. I have only been off road on dirt bikes.

I concur. Have been using K&N filters for 25+ years...
