Looking into getting the American Work Cover Jr. Anyone have one or experience with them?

I did a search here and found a thread.

    ... search 'retractable bed covers'.

Did a few searches before asking. Didn't really see any for the Truck Covers USA. Mostly Rollbak, Retrax, and Pace Edwards. Just looking for some opinions on the cover before pulling the trigger.

Sold them for about 3 years at the old shop. Zero issues on them ever. Very well worth it if you want to spend the coinage.

Here's mine. It doesn't have the toolbox that comes on the Work Cover Jr setup though.

I like the security that it offers for the stuff in the bed. I have the remote Pop-N-Lock for the tailgate, so the entire bed is secured. You do lose about 10" of bed space, but I added the bed extender to make up for it. The bed extender will fit under it. It's very robust. I recommend getting the quick release option instead of the key-lock version to make rolling the cover in and out much faster.

Thanks for replying! Quick question for either one of you. I assume the front drainage holes can be used for the canister. However, where do the drainage holes for each rail go? Do you have to drill into metal or is it only in the plastic bed liner. Where do the hoses snake under the bed liner? Just wanna make sure water isn't draining out anywhere on the frame and causing premature rusting. Thanks again!

They give you rubber grommets to put into holes that you'll have to drill thru the bed. Two drain holes for the rails are toward the back near the tailgate. I didnt bother drilling any holes and just let the water drip into the bed and drain out of the stock holes. I live where there's hardly any rain :). But if water is a concern, then you do have to drill thru the metal, and those holes are quite large.

Damn, was afraid you were going to say that. Wonder if the water will divert into the canister to drain if I plug up the rail drainage holes.

The cover isn't latched onto the tailgate, so you can open and close the tailgate without retracting the cover.

The dealer just got mine in Friday. Have an appointment to install it after Christmas. However, debating just saving the money and doing it myself. Plus I hate anyone touching my truck.

Just do it yourself. It's a 30 minute job with 2 people. No cutting or drilling. They fit like Legos :) It took me one hour doing it myself. The drum is kinda heavy, but I'm a small guy.

Cool, maybe I'll just pick it up then and do it myself. Even though I hate the idea of it, I'll prob have to drill into the bed. Plenty of rain in NJ.
