I think it looks pretty stock, minus sliders (hard to see anyhow), and the avid light bar

The only thing I hate worse than brown boots is black AND brown boots. Why not get black boots you ask? I have weird feet and these work well for me.

And truck related, just got some Icons in the mail. My suspension is 2004 original and proper wore out from the previous owner.

Seems like almost daily I read about some mod or other i got to have. Today I bought 894 fogs for the backup mod.

I am a new (four month) Tacoma owner and I have a plain, base 4x4 but I enjoy how it is now. While I admire the mods people on here do I am going to take it slowly because I don't want to screw up the fuel economy or the feel of the truck. When the stock tires wear out I am going to go a little bigger, and I might want to get a bull bar/brush guard.

But I do kind of like the stealth "company truck" look of my little Tacoma.

I'm not sure what folks classify as a "Mod"....I have a pretty good list of things that I am going to do/add to my Pro when it gets here, but not many actual things I would classify as a "Mod". I am adding a Snugtop XTR shell (it will be modded as we are pulling the rack rails and powder coating them satin black from stock silver), bought Huskey Xact Contour floor mats, and will be putting on either N-fab Rock Rails or Hoop Steps as my Lady is only 5'4". Pretty much intend to leave most of the truck stock. I'll do the normal hose clamp and bolt washers on the tailgate to slow down the thieves and plan to relocate the 7 pin trailer connector as Toyota put it in a stupid place to start with. I'm sure I'll find stuff to add / change as I spend time with the truck, but there are no plans to start chopping and cutting for huge tires etc. Spent the last 28 years Modding the heck out of my FJ40 so if I get the serious modding urge I'll just slide over one Bay in the garage. (69 FJ40 350SB / SM465 / Marlin Toy Box (140:1 in low) / dual ARB's / Power Steering / Full Float rear end / 4w Disc Brakes / Spring Over Conversion / Onboard Air & Shower / etc. etc. etc.). Bought the new Taco for pretty much a daily driver so will do / add things to make it more convenient for me and mine, and to fix factory Fuck Up's like the Trailer Plug connector. When the stock tires wear out I'll up size as big as will fit with the stock suspension and be happy with it. No cutting or chopping on this Toy. Then again, I bought the pro as it had a decent suspension / tires / wheels etc so I guess you could say I liked the "Factory Mods" and paid for them up front.

I probably will not do too much. Bed mat, hard Tonneau, HAM radio, and window tint. That is about it. Will be using it for of the "truck" aspect and not a 4 wheeler. I have another play toy for that. Now I just need to wait for it to get here.

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
Rear differential breather and rock sliders are the only additions to my truck. I may add some skid plates and ditch lights. Still waiting to get tires. But that's it.

Mine is stock, and will remain basically stock so long as it is my DD. My only mod I'm planning is a Gentex mirror with outside temp and compass. Once my warranty is up, and I acquire a sedan to commute in, I'll start looking at mods such as OME 886 suspension, ARB bumper, etc.

I keep mine stock except for bigger tires and better shocks. I'm on my 4th taco and I tend to keep them in great shape.

I just sold a 98 Tacoma and got 8k for it because it was stock. So that made my new Tacoma only 25k .

I would never buy a modded taco and I think a lot of people think the same way.

bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
I would consider mine stock with high quality replacement items, such as billies 5100 set at 1.75 in the front to level after the TSP on the rear leafs, rancho rear shocks to replace worn out originals, wagner server duty brake pads to replace originals at 50k, some bed accessories to hold a jack and secure motorcycles a bit better, and of course, going to TRD 17" sport wheels and 265/70R17 tires to replace the original 245/75R16.

On the other hand, I do BMW motorcycle restorations and we are ALLOWED to use modern brake materials, tires and shocks and still be considered "original".

On the other hand, going to a configuration that cannot be supported by the factory book of parts is certainly a modification, such as aftermarket UCA for a lift kit, excessive trimming for giant tires, CAA, high flow cat back exhaust and such.

Does it count as dumping them when you just lose them..? hehe. I was actually sad when I couldn't find after the most recent haul.

    Purchased my 2014 Regular Cab / 4WD / 5 spd new in June 2014...

    Only modifications/accessories are:
    -16x7.5 TRD FJ wheels
    -Intermediate wiper stalk
    -Weathertech floor liners
    -Access LiteRider tonneau cover
    -RockyMounts bike mounts
-TPMS sensors in 10" wheel/tire behind the seat

    KIMG1317_zps3797b508_128326582ed1d8abf9cfcbcb22bba143eb9aed62.jpg

I do not view anything I've done as a real "mod". Everything is more of a need to for daily driver use, other than the wheels for visual enjoyment (but are a lot lighter). I do not intend to do anything else to the truck. When new tires are needed I want to stick with the 245/75/16 size due to weight and rolling resistance to maintain proper mpg

I have had several past vehicles with more extensive "mods". More or less they were a learning experience and to "get that out of my system" essentially. The more you mess with, the more potential maintenance and involvement just to daily drive the vehicle.

I have no intention of doing "fun" mods again until I get my good weather only vehicle (Corvette or Camaro)

Yeah, good points. ^^^ At least 1/2 of the time when I have modified a vehicle, and probably significantly more often than that, I have either put it back to stock or wished I could.

Short of a few extremely minor upgrades, my truck will remain stock. These minor upgrages will include:

    • Weathertech mats
    • An all terrain tire (once my tires are shot)
    • Contemplating doing the fog light anytime mod
    • Contemplating adding an outlet to the interior of the cab
That's it. Other than those, this truck is virtually perfect (better mpg would make it perfect).

I deliberately keep it stock because (in order of importance)

    1) While I enjoy a nice vehicle, I have other priorities to spend my time and money on. I've done a few creature comfort and security things but nothing big.

    2) Stock truck has the best performance. (less weight, center of gravity, drag coefficient, smoothest ride, fuel economy)

    3) Reliability is king for me and modding it out can put stress on parts that weren't designed for a different use or spec.

    4) Have noticed how many people here have vibration, alignment, and other problems related to modifying the suspension. I can't have that going on.

    5) I'm old enough (55) not to worry what others think and while I'm a nazi on keeping it clean I do it for me and no one else. I don't care as much on how it looks to other people. Function over looks for me. I have no problem with others dressing their truck up though.

Or in my case, the vehicle gets smashed two months later. Often right after I pay to have the engine or tranny rebuilt or something like that.
