So my tailgate seems to be locked. I can't make it budge at all. Weird thing is I have never had a key for it.
A buddy of mine told me his truck has locked itself a couple times. I never heard of it before. Anyone have advice on fixing it?
    Thanks,

Since our tailgates don't have locks from the factory, you'll need the share the brand of locking unit you've installed.

Or is it just frozen shut? :p

It is super strange. I bought the truck used, I guess it doesn't have a locking tailgate. It does have the lock hole. When I first noticed it I thought it was frozen but I have washed it since and the temperature has warmed up a ton, but same issue.

Do you think it might have a power lock? Just a shot in the dark, both my trucks had them wired to the passenger door lock. Have you had the doors unlocked when you tried it?

I have a pop n lock tailgate handle the manual key one. And there has been a few times I go to open the tailgate while it was unlocked and as i pull up it locks. Only has happened a few times and i just grab the key to unlock it again and its all fine.

Interesting thought hadn't considered this. But yes, just tried, and even when all the locks are off, no dice.

^^ I take that back then. I thought that was only standard on 2012+. Whoops!

    Hey All,
This problem still exists- Getting tired of scrambling over the tailgate to grab stuff from the bed! I made a video to show a little more detail. Any suggestions would be awesome.

    Key points:
-I have never had a key for this tailgate.
-it is fully stock, not a pop and lock.
-I have checked to see if the topped is too tight, and it's not the problem.
-Removing the plastic back-panel seems impossible while the tailgate is in the upright position.
