How about adding an Automotive Industry/News section for all things automotive?

 

What types of things would you put in there?

 

Anything related to the Automotive industry such as spy photos of new models, recalls for other models, etc.

"With sales of full-size pickups in a steep decline, Ford Motor Co. said Friday it is delaying the launch of its new, redesigned Ford F-150 pick-up by two months.

The full-size pick-up, which had been due to enter showrooms in early fall will not come out in late fall, instead."

"The Ford and Chevrolet brands are drastically revamping their lineups in the face of record-high gas prices, but that North American turnaround could be coming a few years too late. Toyota is already the number one selling brand in the U.S. — followed by Chevrolet — and, as of April, Honda has bumped Ford out of the number three spot.

According to Automotive News, the Honda brand tallied 437,102 retail sales through April, while the Ford brand has only managed about 421,000 retail sales during the same period. If you include fleet sales — which makes up 35 percent of Ford’s business and virtually zero percent of Honda’s — Ford still has the overall lead on the Japanese automaker.


However, that 16,000 unit lead will likely widen over the next month as Ford continues to rely on larger vehicles for the volume of its sales. Thanks to economical vehicles such as the Fit, CR-V and Civic Hybrid, Honda sales are up 3.6 percent this year while the overall industry is down 9.2 percent. On the other side of the coin, Ford recently announced that it will be slashing production by as much as 20 percent this year as demand for its vehicles continues to sag.


Ford admittedly doesn’t have enough small or medium-sized vehicles in its current lineup to compete in today’s economic environment.


Chevrolet still has about a 30,000 unit lead over Honda, but industry experts say that margin could evaporate by the end of the year. “Chevrolet should worry,” Lonnie Miller, an analyst for R.L. Polk & Co., told Automotive News."

"DETROIT -- As Ford Motor Co. prepares to ditch its conventional minivans, a company executive has confirmed that a Ford-brand version of its Fairlane concept will reach the market in 2008.

Lincoln also will get a Fairlane-based vehicle, suppliers say.

The Ford-brand vehicle is an approved product, said a Ford executive who didn't want to be identified. Company executives expect the three-row crossover to replace a traditional minivan in the automaker's lineup.

The company confirmed in late June that the Mercury Monterey minivan will be dropped this fall. Production of the Ford Freestar minivan could end before the end of the 2007 model year."

The nation's third-largest automaker is set to announce Thursday that it's making wireless Internet an option on all its 2009 models. The mobile hotspot, called UConnect Web, would be the first such technology from any automaker.

Struggling Chrysler is hoping that providing motorists access to the information superhighway will set it apart from competitors and help reverse a dismal year; through May, sales are down 19.3% compared with 2007, the worst drop-off in the industry."
