How about Landa Park in New Braunfels? Kind of a halfway point, almost, between Austin and S.A. We can do a tailgate picnic with everyone basically bringing what they want to eat and being responsible for their own grilling, if they're so inclined. Keeping this as simple and laid back as possible would make it easy and enjoyable for everybody. Future get togthers can then be more detailed depending on the turn out.
Beer, brauts and friends...now don't that sound nice???

I'm in texas! I'm up around dallas though. I was in Austin last week though. Drove down on a whim with my girlfriend ha. About halfway there we were like "hey wait a minute wasn't it flooding in austin?".
The rain finally stopped up here. I live right by lake lavon and the lake is higher than i've seen it in the 10 years i've lived here.

So if we did have a Texas gathering. Austin would be a good spot I think. Not too far for anybody really. How about somewhere with some trails? :-D

Ya know, I have lived here for 2 years, and I have yet to go look for a trail. Maybe TRDeity knows where some are...

Not yet, I'm new to the offroading scene ( I used to stick to the track due to my Mustang), but I have some friends that have been doing it for years. I'll see if I can get some suggestions from them.

As new as I am to off-roading (and that I have a PreRunner w/o LSD instead of 4WD w/ a locker), I will need some pretty simple trails myself. ;)

    We'll pull ya out haha!

Yeah i'm actually new to the 4x4 scene myself. I do a lot of hunting though. So I know of some areas in my neck of the woods that I used to almost get stuck in a lot before with my dads 2 Wheel drive F250 I used to use, to go hunting with.
The mud in this area is just NASTY you can get stuck in it so easy. Its greasy clay and you sick right into it. If you can stay on top you can't stay moving in a straight line, its so slippery.

Mines not 4x4 either but I do have the rear locker which I hope is enough for the type of trails I'll like to do.

Honestly you can get through A LOT with a 2 wheel drive. Especially one as light as a tacoma. My dads F250 is 2wd and it weighs 6,000lbs and i've taken it through some really rough stuff. The only time your really gonna have trouble is when you start to get in really really muddy stuff. The big difference being with a 4x4 you can go slowly and not knock your teeth out. If you go slow in a 2wd or stop in the middle of it your going to get stuck.

Crane's Mill is where my friend launches his sailboat from. He says that it is a $5 to launch, but I don't know if that is just to launch or for admission as well. He says that it is a great little park. I wonder if there are any "public" trails around there...

You might be able to get a good deal here in Austin, you should call Champion Toyota, my sales guy was Scott Schindler. I got a great deal on mine especially because I special ordered it, took awhile to get it but it was well worth the wait. Plus if you do by through him I think I get some kind of referral fee, but no pressure;)
