Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
The past several weeks I've been dealing with a lot of Noobs ( <10 posts) posting stuff for sale in the B/S/T section, and the majority of them have some serious communication issues.
Some don't ever seem to respond back (one in particular seems to have taken the money and run......2 posts to his name when he first posted the ad).
Some seem to have a fundamental inability to figure out how to look at the data on the screen (like not paying attention to who they're dealing with, thinking it's someone else, and ultimately bailing on a transaction once they realize their mistake).
Some seem to not understand basic posting courtesy.
I know it's not just me, for I have had conversations about this with others.
I know there are a lot of people that register for the site just so they can post up one sales ad. A lot of the time they just disappear after that. And a lot of the time they post the ad and walk away (these are historic issues, not just recent).

Could we impose a minimum activity restriction before any B/S/T ad is posted? Something like, I dunno, 20~50 posts and 2~4 weeks after registering? Other forums seem to have no problem with this approach.

It would weed out at least some of the frustration for the more established members.

All I can say is right now I am dealing with this exact issue. I used to belong to a Saltwater Reef Forum and on their site you had to be a member for 90 days and have 120 real posts. Not just going onto posts and stating sub'd, adding real substance to the post. This should be standard on here as well, and will help a lot with this 1 post sell and out crap. And make Brothers and Sisters on the Forum feel safe about the B/S/T section

I second this motion. I am always hesitant to deal with a 3 post individual for this reason. it could be a hit and run.

So who does this have to be brought up to to get it done? Like I said 90 days active and 120 actual posts would probably help a lot.

I completely understand where everyone is coming from, and I support it fully. I only have one thing to say, for me, to get the number of post I have has taken a long time, considering it was actual useful information and not B.S post and funny pictures. How about instead of 120 posts, why not drop it down to 100? It still weeds out the knotheads, but doesn't take someone 2 years to be able to sell something on here.

Why not look at the person who posted or replied to the sale and do a little self investigation? Its really easy, then you can set your own guidelines for post count and/or time for being a member and make your own decision if you want to interact with this person. I understand technology is nice but some things are not that hard to figure out on your own. I see a for sale from a single poster and I skip it, maybe I just make things too easy

    Buyer awareness.

Check out the seller's profile, send them a PM, make your own decision. If it seems suspicious then do not buy.

I have seen various forums where in order to post in the B/S/T thread you have to have a minimum of x posts. Some are 25 some 100. Yes if you really want to sell and don't care about the forum you can make pointless posts in a bunch of random threads to pass the limit but I think overall that it helps.

Lots of sites have a 50 post count before you can list stuff for sale. I'd be for it here as well.

So you guys can spot scammers solely by the post counts and want to block them from selling things based on that, but you cant use your own judgement not to send that same person money?

I had an extremely low post count prior to selling light bars on here. Yet, here we are! Sure it may weed out some, but if someones gonna screw you over, they're gonna screw you over.

I've been a member 5 years and only have (counting this one) 29 post. I do more listing than talking. It would be better to have a time limit instead of post numbers.

Wait so you are just a scammer? lol jk :p but I agree with that point too, just because someone has a high post count does that make them safe? No, you still have to use discretion when buying something, same way you purchase everything in life

There is no fix all for the issue. It does come down to personal judgment and choice like you said but there are plenty of people who don't even read the rules or anything before posting something for sale. Requiring them to have "x" number of posts "encourages" them to look around, and hopefully read some rules. Then they hopefully post accordingly and buyers use good judgement when making transactions. Not being able to sell shouldn't be based solely on number of posts but it is a easy way to try and help.
