No. I dont have any expansion reamers that large. The 1-9/16" hole saw opening is large enough for proper shaft clearance and allowance for bearing lubrication. I will check it with a calipers, but with the "slop" a hole saw has to it, theres really no need to ream.

Finally got the damn tcase out, and started to take the trans out. Got all the bolts out but I'm waiting till I have an extra set of hands to pull it. Didn't feel like eating a transmission for dinner.

All this link talk is makin my grinder want to do more work but in the Tacoma Any chance of doing a tank between the frame behind the axle where the spare goes? Seen it done on runners and pickups. It'd give a little more room for link layout.

thats where jeeps pack them and ive seen some bad things happen when they don't have a good enough skid... also toy tanks aren't pancake tanks like jeeps.

I know several who have. Usually u skin a steel skid with it rather than make the skid alone out of it. Oh...UHMW... it stands for ultra high molecular weight plastic...basically super dense plastic.

Ok thanks I'll have to do a little more searching on the matter. And know I finally know what that stands for, engineers really lack creativity sometimes.

Alright my fellow solid axle member have an issue I'm not to sure about and can't pin point it. Between 60-75 if I'm accelerating I get a deep howling noise and a vibration only on my driver side floor board. It goes away the moment that you let off the throttle. I checked u joint and center bearing they seem tight and are greased.

Yeah extensions and universals are your friend for trans pulls. Only reason it was a pain for me is because I don't have a trans jack and by myself with a floor jack. An extra set of hands is the big thing, me and my buddy hand the trans and case out of a ranger in bout 30 mins.

Yup... I dropped my tranny/t-case myself during the 4x4 conversion, and if it weren't for the harbor freight tranny jack my buddy lent me, the job would have been MUCH more difficult!
:woot: That's ok... Now you can make sure to build it correctly. ;)

Yup, should be able to build it for the price of a complete 60. Prob gonna go spool, chromoly shafts with 35 sp outers and slugs. Gonna have to source the stuff frome the knuckles out, everything else will be new. I'm excited, now I wont have to worry much about breaking anything axle wise as much:D
