Nah...not for now. Who needs 2WD low anyways, and I have never had an issue with my electronic actuator anyways.

The main reson I am going duals now is bc I only want to modify my driveshafts once. If I added the duals later I would be getting driveshafts modified now and again then.

If I go with an FJ case down the road its the same dimensions as my taco case so all will be good.

Figured you would have your reasoning for it:thumbsup:

I've only had issue with mine once or twice. Once it dries out it seems to work fine.

FJ Case & Crawler are on the list down the line tho

Agreed. Plus you can get 2Lo with a simple little switch. I have it, but it is the byproduct of a VCS killswitch I rigged up. The FJcase is supposed to be a little stronger but I see no reason in upgrading to it until I kill my Taco case, or have more money than I know what to do with. haha

    I can't think of a time I would use 2lo.

steep decline with sharp switchbacks where turning would be improved with 2wd?

about all i can think of

Yeah. I was thinking that may be useful for the Morrison Jeep Trail. Could save my tranny temps, or your clutch if you are a manual. That is assuming I have enough traction to do it in 2wd.

It is also good for doing some donuts:p 2Lo can get your tires spinning pretty damn good! haha

But yeah... pretty much useless... Like I said I have a benefit that switch as a VCS killswitch mostly:D

Hopefully not. I plan on another solution to this issue...stay tuned.

And I will have 2WD low just not 2WD compound low :D

True! That was one of my other arguments against an FJ case with a crawlbox. Forgot about it though. haha

    What is strapping the actuator?

The stock transfer case wont shift into low unless contacts are made in the ADD actuator...so some have strapped the actuator to the framerail to allow these contacts to be made still. I think I can come up with a better solution.

My 2Lo switch I have is an actuator bypass. It tricks the ECU into thinking that the ADD is engaged and the Tcase will shift into 4Hi and 4Lo, but I am essentially in 2wd since the disengaged ADD and basically absorbs all the power from the diff. Would this work for you? Or is the issue just with detecting the ADD in general or what?

The FJ's that have a standard transmission are full time 4x4. If you swap a FJ t-case into a standard transmission Tacoma, does it magically become full time 4x4 also?

No. You can only swap in the T-Cases from the Automatics. See Wyatt's thread to learn everything you need to know about the subject

Yeah I really dont think it should be too difficult to trick the 4wd ECU. I will be in touch for sure when the time comes. Thanks!

Its being built using the Total Spline 23 spline inout from Marlin. Although they have never had a failed TrailGear 23 spline input I had them upgrade anyways.

Last resort if I wanna get done quicker I may pull the fork and make a blocking plate to seal up the ADD unit and tackle the wiring later, but it would be nice to sell the (2) ADD actuators I currently have :D

Ah yeah I forgot about the difference between gear and chain thanks for correcting me. Overkill? Maybe but it would go with the theme of this build (not meant as an insult :D).
