No it wasn't...my fire extinguisher was charged. I had the jackstands on my slider which flexes enough to not allow the door to open, luckily the window was. Grabbed the extinguisher and leaped in through the window and dusted it under the dash. Only casualty was a little piece of carpet and a towing plug...peanuts.

I woulda killed myself if I lost my truck...there is no starting over for me.

Joe's (bulhas) welder was tubbing to fit 37's without LT, and the insulation under the carpet caught fire (seems to be a common issue haha). Well the fire extinguisher on hand had been discharged by Joe's co-pilot in Moab while having fun at the after party, so when the welder went to use it, it was empty...

Ended up being like $12000 in just wiring harnesses alone and then there was the dash and what not to add in. He took it up with insurance and after a couple months they decided to total it. His insuarance company has a contract with a pick-a-part place and they get first dibs on vehicles and of course they want a 2011 Taco. So now Joe drives a Lexus.

brady my fire started higher up..... he had the carpet and insulation pulled there..... what he was doing was a little excessive not fully understanding why car companies seam filler and why they dont fully weld them shut. In principle great that it was getting done, a piece of 14 or 16 gauge tacked on and seam filled probably would have been best.....

in hind sight I dont think Anthony welds on vehicles without an extinguisher near by now

I agree. "Cool" to be famous, but not by the impression is that some one else did the work.

I don't think that's the case at all, but I dunno pinterest that much. His account looks like just a bunch of cool offraoding trucks he found.

Search Toyota Tacoma on pinterest and you will find my truck and his pics. I think its Brian Vierra or something?

I really have no hate, I think its cool, but a link with the pic would be nice.

Well since before the SAC I have been fighting an issue with my 6 year-old Smittybuilt Xrc8 winch coming disengaged during a pull. It got to the point where I zip tied the lever in the engaged position to use it.

Well I got a bug up my ass and decided to give them a call back in August. Let me just say their customer service is top notch!

Before I even got the problem completely out of my mouth they said they would send a new end cap and shift lever for me to install...free of charge. That's right...5 years out of warranty and they still sent me warranty parts!

So I installed and it seemed ok...til Harlan a few weeks ago. Same thing started happening. So I call back last week and they say no problem, now that you've tried that we will send you a new planetary gearset to install, and that will take care of the problem. So yesterday I come home to find this:

    20131029_171003_zpsbbcc109e_b07a4312b13da8e21bb0fc9c4bcd7fb96cca9cd5.jpg

Not only is it the new planetary, but the whole case and everything. Basically everything but the motor and spool! Once again for FREE!

I have no doubts this will solve my issue now!

    Thanks smittybuilt!

My old one would free spool, but only after I disassembled and cleaned out there crappy grease and used some decent stuff, but even then was harder than my friends' winches.

    Sure is!

I may or may not have just broken down and purchased an FJ cruiser tcase

After drawing out the logic required to ditch the ADD actuator and the 4wd ECU I regrettfuly made this decision.

I didn't want to add a bank of a dozen or more relays for everything to work (including dash lights) and have more to troubleshoot if I had an issue.

Tcase Actuator is available to anyone who wants a spare. I have tested it and it is fine, its the ADD actuator that is the problem (whats left of it)

    $110 shipped

Leaving it single for now. I really don't see the need to ever have 2wd compound low. IMO twin sticking it is more of a novelty. I already have the crawl box so I have 2wd low, just not 2wd-low-low. :D

I may in the future though, but this already wasn't in the budget, let alone a twin stick setup.

Yeah. I've always felt twin stick was pointless on our rigs or as you put it a novelty. That's why I haven't ever wanted an FJ tcase and probably won't get one until my oem one has 0roblems.

Solve those problems before they happen with a Spare actuator for less than 25% the cost of an FJcase :p
