Wondering about swapping in a stock locker

I have a '00 SR5 with a stock open rear diff. If I were to source a used 3rd member from a model that had the locker, could I just swap the 3rd members, or would they not mate up?

I could do all that, but I don't feel like it, lol. I'd rather just swap a whole axle.

 

This doesn't belong in the SA section... However, just buy a mechanical locker. Or truly if you find a good deal on a e locker axle, more power to you!

 

the last e locker i bought i paid a 100 bucks for at pick and pull. Then turned around and sold it for 450 the next day..... LOL.

Get the whole housing and it makes it way easy. Then its just the matter of undoing u bolts and driveline bolts and put it the new axle in....


P.S MAKE SURE TO GET THE SWITCH... The one for the dash.
