straight axle taco?? 05+

Im no newbe when it comes to toyota ive owned 5 tacomas but im looking to see if anyone has tried the straight axle conversion on the newer models an if so could u include where u got it

 

This question would be better over in the SAS side of the house. All the info you need can be gathered there. And there are a few kits out there now, just have to piece together the odds and ends the kit does not come with.

You can't use kit C with a 2nd gen, in fact NO kit from TG will work with the 2nd gen. I am sorry but if you have to ask questions like these, you aren't ready for a SAS.

Let me ask you this, why do you want to SAS your truck? It does cost over $7k, and to make it DD you're pushing over 10k on a 2nd gen, because they are heavier and require stronger parts.

 

im really wanting the durability plus its alot easier to lift a solid axle than it is to lift the ifs im looking to put atleast 40's under there

changing suspension platforms on a brand new truck can get pricey, you can prolly find a nice jeep with a sfa to wheel with and not have to wory about denting the 011 when playin in the rocks

 

Have you looked into how much time it takes to perform such an action? Also not to mention you will need to research over and over because there is so much information on making everything work it's stupid. Just when you think you figured it all out another problem arises and you will spend more money.

It's no bolt on feature. It's MONTHS of reading, and weeks / months of fabricating.

I understand your reasoning, and if you look at some 2nd gen builds they have spent over 20k $ in just their SAS. Some more so along the lines of 40k.

 

You wanna do it for all the wrong reasons. If you want 40s put em under a super duty

39.5x16 mickey thompsons would need 5.33 gears that would give plenty of low end to push em. an far as wrong reasons yea maybe but not one of us hasnt thought about putting bigger tires under there truck mine just may be a lil more extreme than others. ive seen an 08 running 37's with ease so 40's can be done its just researching long enough to find the right lift to achieve it

 

There is no "kit" for a 2nd gen Tacoma to do a solid axle swap on. I have put together a shopping list to do one but not a formal kit.

You need to decide to what purpose your after before you just start buying parts. Each truck is different and so far no one has come up with the "one kit for all tastes" yet.

Decide how you want to use the truck first then start shopping for parts to fit that build.

Now I wanna really watch this one. 5.33's in a Toyota 8" diff with 40's. Buy extra diffs cause your gonna need them, not to mention axle shafts.

 

Doesn't all-pro offer an SAS kit for the 2nd Gens? It's not on their website but I think I read somewhere you have to call them for the pricing and whatnot. SAS is a serious task to undertake so give it some thought on what you want to use the truck for before you start pulling the trigger. For most folks 4x4 needs the IFS is fine. If done right it can be sick (like Wyatt's Beast!) but can be a very bad idea if you go into it not knowing every detail of what you need to do.
