I do not have alot of posts, but I am on this site everyday looking at all information. I need some recommendations where a reliable, trusted place to have a lift installed. Will be buying my son a 2008 DC TRD Sport 4x4 (LB) within the week, and first thing he wants is a lift. He had a 1999 TRD Off-Road Pre-Runner before. Any recommendations is appreciated. I have searched but can not find anything. If I am posting anything I should not be, just let me know. Just starting to learn and I can not reply as fast as most people, but i will get to it when i get a chance. I live near Jennings so anything within the area. Thanks

What are you looking to install on the truck? Do you have tools or have access to borrow tools? If you do, you could always install the lift yourself. If you want to try to tackle the project on your own, you may be able to get members from here to help out.

I figured I would start asking and see how to go about it. I will probably go with the ToyTec Ultimate lift with Light Racing UCA, unless something else would be highly recommended. My son still has not made a decsion on tire and rims, but for sure it will be in black rims, possibly an all-terrain tire.

Not sure if circumstances allow...but would be a perfect project for you and your son to do together....and there is plenty of info on here of 'how to do'

the toytec and lr uca's would make a good setup

ur best bet would be to go to lafayette or lake charles, which ever is closer to you, and find a 4x4 shop that will do it. i know living out there all hes gunna do is run it threw the rice and crawfish ponds, cuz thats what i do when i go visit my fam lol. anyway good luck, i hope this helps.

That would be a great idea, but i really dont want to mess with something that i really dont know about. Especially if my son is going to drive around in it. Thanks

Im going to say the garage since its winter and cold outside :p

In all seriousness, installs such as these are extremely easy. Just be prepared with all the tools and parts, be relaxed and take your time.

This should also help as it has exploded views with torques and such for putting the truck back together:

I brought the truck home for the weekend and he is already trying to go in mud. I just told him to take his four wheeler. Also told me that a four wheeler is cheaper and easier to fix. If he messes the truck up, he wont have a vehicle to school and would have to ride the bus.

Well I know one place in Lake Charles that will most likely do it. Hurricane Offroad in South Lake Charles. They do some real nice work. My friends dad got a lift and custom fab front and back bumpers from them and his truck looks and rides great. Have another bud getting a 6in lift from them. We'll see how that turns out.

I will definitely go talk to them this weekend and see how much it will cost. Hopefully not to much or I may wait and see if they have any mod days in my area when i order the lift kit and wheels. Thanks

I have emailed both Shelby and Robbie and never received an answer concerning if I brought my own lift kit. They email me what they offer and price of installation.
