Sylva & Cullowhee area

So today I moved back to Cullowhee, NC to start back up at WCU. I saw at least 5 different lifted 2nd gens, and a whole butt load of 1st gens. I saw a satoshi and two BHLMs. So I was curious, who lives in this area? Love to get to know some of you guys.

 

Hey man. No longer in the area, but used to live outside Canton. Still have family in Waynesville. Just thought I'd say hi to a former local

 

Yeah man! I love it here! Beautiful area. I am staying in the dorms here now, but plan on buying a nice 3/2 in Cullowhee sometime next year. It is amazing how cheap real estate is here.

Im from Waynesville, and go to UNCC but come visit my sis and some friends over at the Whee every now and then.

 

Just bought a cabin in Dillsboro/Sylva area. Gonna be spending a lot of weekends up there this summer if anybody wants to get together for some ridin or fishing. Also anybody got any input on the hunting in the area? I.E. Deer, Ducks, and Turkey?

 

Well there are a few deer around man just be ready to walk to find them, the deer hunting gets better the farther east you go!

I was born and raised in Canton.Come home every chance I get to do some fishing and 4 wheeling.

That goes for anybody else also. I'm down for hunting and wheelin also. But I just got a prerunner so nothing too crazy.

I live in Concord, but love the area around wcu. A good lake I've fished up there is bear lake. Lots of crappy and lake trout

Ok prospectively looking to make a trip up the weekend of May 14th if anybody wants to try and get together. Should have my drift boat so that is an option or can do some wading but I'm not too sure about the generation schedule yet. If anybody knows where to get a copy of the gen schedule if you could pass that on I'd be grateful. Thanks.

 

I dont really think a drift will be very helpful, unless your fishing the Tuck or another big river? If you fly fish I recommend you looking up some creeks in the Great smokey park! Seems like I catch more and better fish there anyways.

 

You can float the Tuck if they are generating. It will be fishing great in May, still under the DH restrictions. After June it will turn to hatchery supported water and get cleaned out pretty quick.

Here is the calendar for releases on the Tuck. I tend to find that this is too subjective to weather conditions so I would not count on it being correct.

Both the East and West fork release to the Tuck. Best wading is no generation but you can wade with one, especially if it is the east fork. Best floating is the west fork only but you can float both. I have yet to float this but have a one man pontoon that I have really been wanting to take down it.

There is also a lot of wild water around you as stated. Both in the park and the national forest. Wish I could come fish but I am heading to the SoHo the weekend after and have to get some things done around the house before I can go.
