I would do just that, but I'm in an 11th floor apartment and they'd flip shit if I tried to spraypaint anything in the garage or lot.

I never got around to installing the rear shocks last weekend, so if time permits I'd like to try to get that done during the mod day on the 12th.
I couldnt get the top nut off the shocks, just kept spinning as I turned. I pb blasted them to death and held the threads with a pair of channel locks, but no luck. I don't have any vise grips so I didnt try that. I was afraid to dremel off the nut since I'll be sending one back to bilstein to try to get a warranty replacement.

Hey everyone - I am fixin to get a new Tacoma in the next few months and was wondering if there are any good spots to go off-roading + camping relatively close to NOVA? My wife and I live in Burke and love taking our dogs camping and I would like to be able to get some fun off-roading in as well!

    Thanks!

Welcome nomad. Only places I know of, at least legal ones, are in George Washington National Forest. People sometimes do camping trips to Flagpole near the WV border and also theres another popular destination down south called Shoe Creek.

Welcome! I too live in Burke. If you see a lifted blue Access cab (blacked out with bronze wheels), that's me!

The folks here will have some ideas on good places. I couldn't help you out just yet on that front......lol. Wes

We've been out to "The Cove" because we are both firearm enthusiasts and they have a free fire outdoor range on the campgrounds if you can make the hike up the hill or if your car can make it (i had an Audi at the time and that did not do very well).

@WESLEY KAY, o/ I will keep an eye out for you! :D We live over by the Amtrek/VRE(?) station just up from the Wholefoods and BGR. Is there any good shops to take your truck to in NOVA for getting suspension mods or the like installed? We don't have a garage where we live so it would be kind of a pain in the ass :/

I live in Burke Centre, off Burke Centre Parkway near the Khols/Safeway (near Rt 123). For suspension work, I go to DOUBLD on this forum. You will see him in this post if you go back a coulple pages. He works at a shop in Sterling, and he put my OME lift on my truck. The other guys in this forum are pretty good at helping as well.

If you just need a quickie garage in the area, I made good friends with Danny and Kevin from the Shell gas station on Burke Centre Parkway, in the Khols/Safeway plaza. If you go there, please tell them Wes (Blue Tacoma) sent you, and they may hook you up even more so than normal....lol. I have had them do work just because they have lifts in there.

I too live in Burke. Welcome Nomad! I'm over near the walmart off burke centre parkway and coffer woods. Like Wes said, Doublld is the guy to go to if you want to pay to get your stuff done. He is good and gives all of us a break on $$$. On the other hand…like skygear said…there are plenty of guys on here who are more than willing to help out if you are a do it yourselfer. We also get together every month or so and meet at some bar for some truck talk and other BS as well as enjoying many adult beverages!
