So to switch in 4lo you need to be rolling in neutral at less than 5mph right? Just curious. Would it be the same with the 4th gen 4Runner?

4Hi to 4Lo, stopped in neutral. It's just like shifting a manual transmission with the engine off in a normal car.

The transmission output is feeding the t-case input, so you want the t-case to shift from 4Hi to 4Lo (gear change) with the input shaft stopped. If you do it on a manual shift t-case, it feels just like shifting a manual transmission car with the engine off.

<5mph may be fine, but I always try and stop.

As far as 2Hi to 4Hi, I've never heard that's bad sitting still. I thought it didn't much matter when you did that, short of at like 90mph or something truly ridiculous.

Oh... and if you want to spend RZR money, and get a LC with an all toyota one ton front axle...

So, when Alex was sitting still, I think, he switched to 4lo and engaged the locker. So he didn't hurt anything. He might have switch to 4hi first to engage 4wd but then switched to 4lo. Anyways, 2-4hi be moving and 4hi-2 be moving. Alex, got that???

Also, locker is fine while moving slowly. Matter of fact, depending on the orientation of the carrier it often doesn't lock until you start moving, if engaged from a stop.

Well I finally got home a few minutes ago. Got the M416 trailer from a fellow TW member in Coker, AL. I will get a couple of pics tomorrow and post them. It will take a good bit of TLC, but will be well worth it in the end!

Well here she is at the shop. A lot of work ahead of me. I'll have to do an evaluation on the axle and frame before I decide to keep it or change it out. It is not original, that is for sure.

It will be fully built up for an expedition trailer. Right now my plans are to have a 25 gallon water tank, dual propane tanks, interior compartments, and a telescoping roof rack for the RTT. The trailer will be set up with a full kitchen to include a small rinse sink, propane stove, and cleaning/prep table.

Thanks. I am looking forward to it. Right now I am calculating up about 12 months to complete the trailer. Anyone know a good place in the Birmingham/Montgomery area that does sand-blasting?
