For that price, this is a better deal:

I don't know how it sounds though :notsure:. If you are interested in a turbo, we can talk online. Lots of haters in here.

I wheel every chance I'm able. Turns out, when you have two kids, you don't get many chances. Going to Big Dogs this weekend for some wheeling, camping, and fishing.

Oh, and S/C < Turbo...

The turbo is 3 times cooler than the TRD S/C at worst and plenty of ppl wheel just fine with the S/C...

How do you figure? SC isn't superheating intake air and then having to cool it back down.

Reason the thing says 05-09 is the ecm. URD has a new one designed to work with the newer ecm/ -

Oh, doubld turbod his 4.0 and blew the engine more times than I remember. Might want to look at his posts and ask him questions on turbo to know what not to do.

    Fact

I like the whine . one of those sounds you learn to love with power

I learned to drive on a Porsche 911 sc. Noise? Radio? Hahaha. Radio was for looks and when the engine was off in that beauty. Powerful vehicles are not quiet. Unless they are electric. Then again they scream too with those electric motors spooling up

You guys are idiots. Grab your backpacks, Im taking you to school.

The 1st gen TRD SC uses an old eaton design: 3 lobe TVS system developed in the 90's. They are monumentally ineficient and very hot. To top it off, it doesnt have an intercooler and sucks power directly off the crank. The cherry on top is its so hot and puts such a load on the engine that it pings in 4th gear under load.

    Here are the numbers:

The only benefit is it will boost sooner. In fact, I prob won't even be boosting when offroading with the turbo, its too big... I will be getting a smaller, more properly sized turbo in the future for quicker spool that is comparable, albit much cooler, than the S/C.

    Class dismissed, go hate elsewhere.

Hmmmm, they both have their place. If it fits your application and it works for you then that's all that matters. IMO they are about the same. You can blow a motor with both so it depends on the setup and proper tuning. Both cost a lot of money, both produce more power, both can cause severe damage if not tuned correctly so to each their own.

The supercharger is a direct bolt on with all of the extra parts to maximize power and correct tuning while the turbo is a work in progress build which to this point seems to take a lot of time and once it is set up and correctly tuned should be just as good. The turbo upgrade makes it more of the owners drive to try something that is not readily available and to have a different truck. If I had my choice I would probably pick the SC just for the ease of installation but I am helping Chris and awaiting to see the difference once his is up and running correctly.

Both are only better if you don't have either.

So, teacher, for the sake of education...
Why not just add meth injection to the S/C for cooling?? Cooler air = HP right?
That way on the S/C, it's got the HP and the low end boost that's needed for wheeling.
