Years back I used to be a professional spotter for a lot of the Nissan crews (Back when I owned my old Pathfinder) and some other Jeep crews up in Jellico and Tellico, as well as in Florida. The true test is when a driver has 100% complete faith in his spotter. When the driver never looks out the door or window, and only looks directly at his spotter, you know he trusts them implicitly.

I think thats something special right there. Idk if i could have 100% trust in someone, guess i wont know until i develop that sorta trust with whoever i may be wheeling with and as long as they know what they're doing, i dont mind trusting them.

Yessir...you are exactly right. Took me a while to get used to trusting someone else to be your eyes. We had some good folks in our club.

It does help. The reason I always tell a driver to trust the spotter is because as a driver, all you can see is what is out the left window. So you can see your two left wheels, and that is it. You can't see what is going on with the right, and you can't tell where obstacles sit underneath you, or for the next several feet. A spotter has a full visual. I will say it takes time to learn proper track paths, and to learn your driver's skill and abilities. I have had 4 or 5 different drivers that I would have to send on different types of tracks because of their driving style that I had come to learn. Some people have armour, some don't....some people have great skills, some are still learning....some people have good pedal control.....others just like to floor it as much as possible. lol.

Id say Uwharrie if its open, if not Gulches is an option and SKip will give a discount for having a rather large group.. 6+. Id recommend some sort of protection at a bare minimum stock skids and sliders for sure! & Saturday would be ideal as Fridays the open late and sunday they close early so Saturday has the most amount of ride time and theres a lot there for all different builds.. 2wd and a locker will do fine for a good bit of the park and then there parts where full on buggies struggle so it has a bit of everything for the guys who have never been, theres a few of us that know Gulches pretty well and can guide a group or split into two groups if we have enough people and the park has guides as well!

If you want a "free" place theres a spot in Spartanburg that's pretty fun for about all different ranges.. we used to take the 5 luggers out there and with a lot of persuasion they would make it thru a lot more than youd think but its a fun place regardless!

Whatever we do, don't make Higherlux a guide... everyone will come out without taillights and beat to shit rockers! He's all set for rockers now though ;)

FWIW a small group of us are going to Gulches on the 28th if anyone would be interested in joining in, pretty well built rigs so we should hit some good stuff!
