Nice man! It's not a hard kit to install.. Are the spring coming preloaded to the shocks though? When I did my 886's I HAD to use a spring compressor with the jerry-rig LCA method to get the damn things on there...

I think I'm right on the coils. I told him to get the 885s because he's not gonna have a plate bumper or a winch and he just wants to run a 285. I've never felt with a 2nd gen much. Told him if he wants a little more just to get the top plates later if he wants more.

    Sandman: nice! Lol

Luke: it sounds like you're right on with the coil size, no need to go bigger if he's not planning to get all the heavy stuff. I was just sayin to make sure to preload them n the shocks instead of trying to use the truck to compress the springs on there

Also meant to say I didn't have a problem using the truck compression method on my OME 886s. I do have OME shocks, not sure what y'all are using.
The 885s should be easier than 886s

should 885s give about 2 1/2 inches of lift?

Truck started shifting oddly today. Checked the code; PO751. Shift solenoid acting up. Bad times.

Need your help, boys! Just got a cool $800 for tires. I'm running Billy 5100s on 2.75 in the front and OME Dakars at 3 inches in the rear.

What can I fit? I want to get 5 tires and keep it under $1,100. Also, if I can, I want to find some steel wheels in 15s and get a tire for those, but for now, I need a tire for my stock 16s. No cutting and minimal rubbing when I please.

Suggestions, please? I'm thinking a 255/85/16, but I can only find KM2s in that size.

I have the 255/85/16 Cooper ST Maxx. Love them so far. Was a pain in the ass to track down just 4 though...

edit: not sure about 1st gen, but I'm running OME 885s and Dakars with ~3. no rubbing except on front flaps with the stock steelies, which i believe, are close to the 1st gens. can't say for sure.

Yeah, if I go for a 255, I should be avoiding a lot of rubbing and still fitting a 33 under there, not to mention to huge difference in weight. Any suggestions on a place to buy tires/get mounted around Harrisonburg? I know I always talk about what I'm going to do, but I actually do have the money this time, haha.

if you can find a place to get em mounted cheap (firestone for example) i'd suggest buying the tires either online or from somewhere like walmart. that's what I did and while I was in DE and saved a shit load in taxes (they don't have any :p ) it still was cheaper than going to a store and buying them... just a thought

Ugh. 255s are so hard to find, and SO expensive. I need more info on 285/75/16. People say I'll rub, but how bad? Will that affect my wheeling?

I have the 285s on mine and the only thing I rub is the frame at full lock. And it throws mud and stuff all over the side of my truck but I haven't washed my truck since May so I don't really care
