WV: Monongohela National Forest Highland Scenic Highway (Snow Wheeling Trip)

Highland Scenic Highway Snow Wheeling Trip Saturday Jan 17th 2015. The Highland Scenic Highway is a 2 lane paved scenic highway in the Monongohela National Forest in West Virginia. It is the highest major roadway in WV. It goes up to over 4500 Feet in elevation. There is a 22 mile stretch that they leave unplowed. It is legal to drive it. Tire chains are a good idea if you have them. Snowmachines are allowed also. The nearest town is Richwood WV. It is about a 5 hour drive from Northern Virginia. Here are some pictures and video. Very Scenic up top, lots of spruce trees. Looks like your in Canada.

The trip has been moved to Dolly Sods up to the gate due to lack of snow on the Highland Scenic Highway.
