Alabama thread!

A MIG welder is the easiest one to use. Just grab some scrap and try running continuous steady beads. It's all about practice. If you have a steady hand, you'll get the hang of it in no time.

I've used a MIG before, though most of my experience is with an Arc welder. The MIG was far easier to get a good clean bead.

 

Thats what I have heard. I just dont know what settings to use, wire speed and voltage for the different thickness of metal. Im going to try to reinforce my skids when I get halfway decent. I also am not sure if I have the desired width of wire, its .45, which I believe is way to thick.

 

I know Justin does a bunch of welding at work. Not sure what kind of welder he uses. Might want to PM him. If he uses a mig, he'll likely be able to give you more info on them then i will.

It's all good Bill. I understand that you have a business to run and everything like that and personal stuff to deal with. Well right now I am at $465 for them to fix all the "afro engineering" done to the wiring, aftermarket alarm, "push button" start, aftermarket wiring for power windows. They are taking the alarm out and the push button start as well. Luckily they found a retro wiring kit to keep the power windows because it's got not AC right now. They are hoping that it will take the CEL off and the truck will run fine. They are thinking it's an overload on the ECU for all that aftermarket stuff and how the wires were run. IF that doesn't fix it then the knock sensors have to be replaced because that is why the CEL is on in the first place and that is $1,050. So right now I am at $465 for the wiring "problem." So, let's hope that it fixes the problem and I don't have to sink into it what I paid for it.

Is it April 21th that we are talking about? Something local I hope. That SHOULD give me enough time to get my truck finished with the engine AND the new paint. This is the new color it will be when I get done. I wish I was good at photo-shopping so I could actually "paint" the truck and see what it looks like finished.

 

A park would be awesome!
