I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
also, anyone know the thread size on the top of the 2nd gen front shocks? I know its metric, but I'm not sure on the size and pitch. Bill?

Yeah, but the biggest connectors in the world won't help you if the hose is a small 3/8", or the compressor can't provide flow.

The real CFM comes from piston size. The best, though more expensive, are the dual stage compressors.

The wrench for the nut is 14mm. That would put the stud size at probably 10mm. Not sure the pitch, but I know is it the fine thread.

Yeah, I figured it was a 10 based upon the 14mm, but you also given the options of 1, 1.25, and 1.5 for pitch.

And Btw, piston size only matters when you are looking for cfms during generation. That's why screws are so prevalent. Higher rpms yield higher cfm, and with current tech, higher rpms are easy.

But you gotta be running an industrial system to warrant a screw compressor.

Guys...getting ready to transform the interior of the tacoma. I'm getting the "factory look" navigation system and I'm going to do the 3m di-noc carbon fiber wrap to accent the interior as well as getting my katzkins leather. My question is on lighting. I'm thinking that i want the hyper white led lights...or blue (not sure yet). Do any of you guys know where I can get those lights for the dash and dome as well as where to go to have them installed? I live in prattville. Thanks a bunch.

PM has been replied to on the LEDs.

If you are looking at doing the carbon fiber look on the interior, I would recommend doing the hydrographics. Do a search here on TW because there is a member who does this, and the look is AWESOME.

Broke down the rim this afternoon in anticipation of being able to just plop a new tire on it and zip the lock ring back on, bingo bongo.

I got this far and can't figure out how to get that polymer piece out.

Gonna need a tire iron for that, or is there some trick with mechanical advantage that I'm missing? I futzed with it for like 15 minutes trying various different angles and ways to pull it out, then I tried cutting the tire. Hah. That didn't happen.

Someone done this before want to chime in? I got a voicemail out to the previous owner for tech support too, but figured I'd ask you guys.

I'll add, there was much cussing about the irony of simply turning on a dirt road destroying a tire, but a jigsaw not even making a dent in it.

That's what makes it a double bead lock. Without that it'd just be a split rim. That piece is what holds tension on the bead on both the inner and outer bead while the two halves of the rim are bolted together.

Good for nothing, as far as this job was concerned, lol. Got that open box at Lowe's a few years ago. It's like a $175 saw that I think I paid $40-50 for. No case, manual, blades, just the saw, but it was a hell of a deal. Maybe if it had a manual I would have read somewhere not to try and cut tires with it.

Ran 75ft of wire in my truck today for the new speakers. For anybody who hasn't seen them this is the stock speaker magnet. What a joke. These things would distort listening to books on tape driving down the interstate.

Maybe should have tried a metal cutting blade and low speed. I'm assuming that is the multi speed one. I've got two of them. One I bought in 92 for $175 and one I snagged at a pawn shop last year for $15. I couldn't pass that deal up as a backup. Of course it's kinda hard with a Bosch to need a backup though. lol

One or two things modded... Check out the build thread
soap and water..... that is all you need. the tire guy at the quarry said if you cant get it out with that you shouldnt be working on it by yourself and should be taking all your stuff somewhere to let someone else work on it for you. his words not mine.

get a lil bit of soap in a squeeze or spray bottle then add water and shake up.. soak the whole insert. then rotate insert 90 degrees so the tire is horizontal and insert is vertical. then stand on sides of tire in line with insert and it will pop out. that is how we do it here with the semi tires. of course the big tires need a machine to compress the sidewalls enough to pop out the inserts. and yes we run split rims on all equipment except pickups.
