That's going to be a lot of bolts. you'd come out cheaper selling and buying a 4wd 02. Not trying to rain on your parade, just don't want you spending all that money to regret it or not be able to have a good working 4wd afterwards.

x2. Especially if you have "no idea what you're doing", that's going to be a $$$ swap compared to just going ahead and getting a 4wd 4-runner.

I understand but let me say this. It is an 02 with 323,000 miles. I had a guy tell me it's like 2000 to convert if you find scrap yard stuff.

Spend that money on an old cherokee instead, then you get solid axles and a lot less work.

Also, it'll only be $2000 if you know what you're doing and can wait and hunt for deals on parts, and you already said you don't know what you're doing.

plus, good luck on finding a junk yard in AL that has a Tacoma in it with any useable parts that don't automatically need rebuilt (which equals more money) most either wont have a taco in it or it will have been picked clean years ago.

I would suggest a locker a winch and some good tires, and that should take u a pretty good ways for prolly half the money and requires very little know how (i guess a little no how wiring the winch and installin the locker but i bet a few beers could get u plenty of help with that)

um what.... any locker worth a damn is gonna be a grand, then a decent set of tires will run a grand, another $600-$900 for a good winch and its gonna add up and end up being something that pulls cable to get to the base of an obstacle your four wheel drive buddy just cleared while idling.

well the $2000 "ideal" price is obviously gonna be pretty far off since its already been decided that most of the parts will not be found (in working condistion atleast) in a scrap yard, meaning that it would cost atleast 50% more so lets just say its $3000, tires could wait until a new set was needed and then those are basically a "free" upgrade, so now we are at 1k for a locker and ~$600 for a winch so a grand total of ~1600 and all in a relatively DIY manor, where are i assume some of the labor for the conversion will have to be paid for only adding to the cost of conversion.

I dunno selling a buying a 4x4 would be easiest and prolly cheapest as mentioned, i just thought i would throw out an easier/cheaper suggestion since the OP may have a emotional connection with his current truck
