Guys Robbinsville is WAAAAAAY out in Nantahala National Forest...hell and gone from where any of us are.

Brutal, best I can offer you is there's a lot of national forest/recreation land out that way...can look into fishing, hiking, trail riding (if you like bikes or horses), camping...

I live pretty much 10 miles from the Pisgah National Forest in Haywood County! Its some beautiful country. You can hit up Lake Chatuge which is in clay county (nc). Or you can hit up the Blue Ridge Parkway which will blow your mind. O by the way im in Haywood County if you were wondering. If you like trout fishing you can go to Cherokee which is an indian reservation which has Harrah's casino. I would really recommend going to cherokee! O if your kids are younger they have Santa's Land!

Also along with all this where you are going there are two lakes on either side of you closer than Chatuge. One is Fontana, and the other is Santeetlah. Both are beautiful lakes!! I have a place on Fontana. Robinsville is a very small place. Like said above Cherokee is a great trout fishing getaway, although you are like an hour or so away from it. Beautiful place out here. Mountains everywhere!! You'll love it. Tacofanatic05 and I are from this area. You won't be let down!!

Pisgah NF has Looking Glass Rock. There's a hiking trail to the top with a sweet view, great spot for a picnic.

I'm usually down there climbing the steep side...don't be surprised if climbers pop up to greet you.

I-40 is closed due to a rock slide at the TN/NC line.
US129 (The Dragon) is closed from a rock slide where it opens up at the lake. You can access the Dragon (11 mile stretch) during daylight hours from the NC side, but not the TN side. Expect to see motorcycles.

I can recommend the Cherohala Skyway for a scenic ride. You get enough elevation change that it changes seasons. Towards the Tellico end there is a turnoff where you can go see a waterfall and hike around some. There is also good ice cream next to the river as you get into Tellico.
