I'm still here and am planning on doing something the end of July :)

The last couple of weeks I've been busy trying to make the most of the warm weather. I went back up to Jacob City on the the dirt bike and on that trip I met a guy that explores the old mines, the following weekend he took my bro. and I to a mine over by Ophir (Chloride Point Mine). When I get some time I'll post some pics up on the Utah thread.

I’m definitely still planning on going camping at the end of the month. Unless anybody has any objections or better suggestions I’ll plan on Farmington canyon back behind Francis Peak.
Getting the BLM to e-mail me the forms has been a huge headache (see e-mail correspondence below). Sometime I swear that government organizations try and make things more difficult than they have to be, nobody wants to take responsibility for anything. I’m sorry for the tangent. I’ll call the BLM again and see if I can get them to follow through with sending me the required form. Note permit or no permit I’m still going.

Please reply to the email below.

How does one apply for a permit to enjoy our public lands if nobody will send the form to apply for the permit?

    Thanks,
    Jason

As per http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php?t=84656 still no go on the road towards Francis Peak. :/ There are a few designated campgrounds on the way up, but thats kinda boring. I'm also not sure where they have Skyline closed heading south towards Bountiful from Farmington. (it might very well be the whole thing starting at the split towards the peak). If its open, I'm sure it would be clear up to the peak, but behind it towards the lakes, might be another story.

About half way up Mineral Basin is open. No clue if there's any camping spots up to that point though. Last I heard Forest Lake is still a no go.

Guess we could always find a spot off the road in AF canyon, or maybe up by the split between milkmaid and major evans, if its open. Maybe I'll see where I can go this weekend that way a bit, as there should be plenty of room for all the trucks.

Forest Lake, IS CLOSED :( but then again right now that road is worse then ever so no worrys we can always go there another day, as far as those two other places i dunno where they are, but they're are plenty of camp sites even big sites where we could get plenty of trucks

If you know camp sites up American Fork Canyon that will fit our group lets plan on going there.

Let's get a count on who can make it and start putting this together.

Note to any and all that can't make the camping part of this trip you are still more than welcome to join us the next day.

Also for future trips the BLM finally got me the info needed for permits.

Depending on where you are going on public lands, the permit may be a
Special Recreation Permit or a Letter of Agreement.

A phone conversation is needed to determine exactly what type of permit
    would be needed.

Our Small Group Permits are for overnight camping activities only. If you
are going to be doing a 4x4 ride in addition to overnight camping, then an
Organized Group Permit would be needed.

Here is the information for Organized Group Permits..............(See

I'll head up AF Canyon tonight or tomorrow and see what sites I can find. I'm in for both the ride and camping at this point. Will plan on bring my float tube and do some fishing in either Tibble or Silver Lake.

For now Farmington is a no go. Rumor has it that the road is closed.

Last week I tried to go to Francis Peak across Skyline Drive from the B in Bountiful but the gate was closed at the top of the mountain.

I'll be updating the thread tonight.
