I think you have to cut the tip in small segments until the proper SWR is achieved.

I personally am fond of those old fords, my gramps drove an 86 f250. Of course, it broke down a lot.... Reputation upholds itself.

What kind of CBs do you use? I've been looking at the Cobra portable and Wilson 1000 magnetic antenna.

Thanks for reminding me to order mine, doing that right now. I am getting a Midland 75-822, and a magnetic mount antenna.

All you Elko peeps, to get a near perfect tune on your CBs, go to any of the truck stops. $5-$10 will get you damn near 1:9 1-24 without having to buy a meter.

No truck stops in Elko. The county wont let one be built, they say it will take too much business away from Carlin and Wells. On the bright side though, I have a new neighbor across the street that has huge antennas on everything. Might just have to go introduce myself. :D

I got a Uniden Bearcat 680 with a firestik a couple weeks ago. I have the Relentless hood mount bracket for the firestik. If I can get off my ass this weekend, I'll get the cb installed.

...Just thinking ahead a bit, where are we meeting up on the 19th? I'll be heading up on the 18th and camping somewhere.

Just looked it up, "Elko Electronics" is a radio shack entity... Anyways, they should be able to tune antennas

Grounded for sure...thanks. I'll probably go to a cb/amateur radio store for fine tuning, and hopefully get the right numbers.

1:9 across the channels is ideal. I have 1:9 1-10 dropping to 1:7,1:8 through the rest... Heard the truck stop guy clear as day... From ten feet away... Lol
