Is there a SoCal mod shop?

I live in LA and I would love to find someone out there that owns a shop. I just got my 2nd gen taco and would love to find a place where guys know what the hell they are doing with tacos. That why I can slowly mod up truck with good advice and expertise. I just don't want to take it to some random ass custom shop to overpay and get it F*ed up. I am a newb when it comes to building shit, but I'd love to learn. The closer to the San Fernando Valley the better. Anyone?

 

What kind of mods are you looking to do? Suspension, audio, performance, body work? If we know what kind of things specifically maybe everyone on here can give you some recommendations. I don't know very many 1 stop shops around here, but it all depends on what you're looking to accomplish.

 

Well the list of things I want to do to my truck would include, New grill, new wheels/tires, some lighting upgrades, body lift

 

depending on what you want to do, TW member driveways are the best.

What kind of budget? Look into Camburg 4'' Spindles if your budget can handle it. Then you can add an add a leaf til you can afford a new leaf pack in the rear.

dont cheap out on a body lift, save the pennies and get something worth while

Well the body lift is not set in concrete. Still curious about any LA mod shops. I checked out that 4 wheels part and I didn't know about that so thank you for that, it looks legit for parts.

 

buying parts at 4WP's is fine, but dont let them work on your truck. i have heard way too many horror stories.

like said earlier, most of these mods are pretty east to do and you can do them yourself or w/ the help of fellow TW members

 

just a thought, it would be rad to install an LED light bar in the lower open part of the bumper.

OP, you would be the first one i think, just have an offroad shop fab up a mount for you.

Welcome to Tw. Look in the regional section of Tw for mod days. Most mods are easy enough to de your self.on a side note try to stay away from body lifts they are not safe and look like crap. I would save up for for camburg spindles, I believe they are located in your area and they cost 300.00 plus the part to install.

 

do it right...

4WP is cool to buy from so long as you know what you are getting...

if you are new to this, do more research before you buy...

get to know the so cal folks who have been doing this for a while, especially folks who are into prerunners...

if you plan to wheel the truck, figure out what type of wheeling you want to try and get first hand feedback from those who are IN to that type of wheeling...

it's natural to want to save some money, but the money you save today, will mean nothing if you have to spend even more later on upgrades, repairs, or replacements...

like i used to say over at CustomTacos, "if you VALUE your truck, put some value INTO your truck"

Thanks everyone for the input, some wise words. That's what I am in the process of doing...finding out what is best for me and my truck. I think I have decided against the body lift because it is meaningless and might give me issues down the road, all for some aesthetic look that is shitty anyways. Preferably I would love to meet up with some TW guys in SoCal that could help me out, thats mainly why I posted this thread, but all the input has been great thanks
