My shit pops that FUCKIN code all the time. Either Pending or Sets a hard code. Making the dealership figure it out. One of the normal culprits are spark plugs. When is the last time you changed them. Our trucks plugs are only good for 30000. A lot of people have literally to the day plugs go out. that and cleaning out the throttle body and maf would be the first steps

I cleaned the throttle body and changed spark plugs about a month ago. Check engine light came on when I started it up and drive a bit. Should I change them again or take it somewhere? My time frame is small.... Need a fix quick to pass smog. Registration due soon on the 31st

Pull plugs and take a look at them, check that the electrodes are sturdy. Sometimes they are loose and messes shit up. Autolites are especially prone to this. Will throw you into limp mode if its bad enuf

If you cant find a dead giveaway on the plugs I'd PM "speed freek" Jason. He is local and should be able to get you on track before your registration deadline.

    2 things.

Make sure you used denso plugs as anything else will give you issues, and 2. Make sure they are gaped right. Wrong gap will cause a misfire, and give you a check engine light. cant say a whole lot because p0016 has plagued me and mine is a 2011. If it started after plugs and throttle body, the problem might lie with the plugs

I did gap them, but I used autolites. It's what they recommended at o'reilys. Would you think swapping em for denso plugs would fix it all?

It might, it can't hurt to try, as the manual recommends that you use dense plugs.

PMed you Kelso, get these Autolites out of there, swap them to Denso and your truck is fixed.

On another note I am installing Tyler's kit on a Taco, and I am taking a bunch of pics of the install, its looking really good. Great job on the R & D of that kit Tyler! Customer is gonna be pretty stoked I think, I will have it done this afternoon..had to miss the Pancake run though.

Just wanted to intoduce myself- I was on here years ago with my 05 double cab but never did anything with it- just traded her in for a single cab and spent the extra money on new rims tires and tint job. so happy.
