If so, what I've always had do was take a pair of vice grips and grab that top rectangle piece of the shaft your talking about. Having a partner is a major help. If I didn't have to work today I'd cruise over and help ya.
No spring compressor, I'm using the floor jack method, coil is still on, spindle is disconnected from the LCA and is supported.

I think I'm just gonna cut the nut off, it's no big deal if I mess the shock up, they're just factory replacements.
