I'm Planing on hitting up this trail on Sunday the 9th. It will be my last chance to offroad this break for me. I will be taking my truck and also towing my brother's jeep up there (both will be on the trail).

We will be meeting at the dirt lot for the correction facility ( 32°43'47.11"N, 116°41'41.55"W) at 11am.
We will start the trail no later than 11:30am.
CB channel will be decided once we get there and see which channel is the clearest.

This trail is not prerunner friendly, but don't let that stop you from trying. I do not recommend taking a stock truck up this trail (I did a year ago and the trail has gotten harder). I recommend a lift (1"+), 31"+ offroad tires (i.e. AT, mud, etc.), Sliders, and some recovery equipment and recovery points (the last one is NOT optional).

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Can also contact me about this run at (eight5eight)4four4-sixthreesix5
Please add your name to the list:
    1) S.B. + bro (truck and jeep)

I forget what it is, but its some thing along those lines.

I will post some pics from google earth an directions, just give till noonish since I have to be somewhere at 9.

Last time I went I think it took 30min to an hour one way, but it all depends on how slow/ fast we go. It took me 4 hours with my stock truck and my newbie ass.

Yes this place is legal, unless the city has changed that, but i doubt it.

Ok Sean I gotcha now , the entrance/meeting spot is next to Barret Honor Camp more or less. Funny, this is where we'd park years ago & go fish lake Barrett.

So the SDSO won't hassle you, good to hear

Well bro' , looks like its you & me & your brother , no worries :D Since we've never trailed together before I should tell you that when offroad I go down trails at a pretty good clip & cover 1 mile of med. difficulty trail in about 3-4 minutes, probably slower since I've never trailed here before, but I'll follow your lead, nice change for me to follow someone else for once..:D.. Don't worry dude I won't hold you up, I'm 3x older than you but you won't think that once we hit the dirt, I luv new trails man

Got back from Pancake rock awhile ago , & gotta say although rather short (about 2 miles) it is def. a solid 7, maybe even 7.5 on a scale of 10 , in Corral canyon terms its right at single black diamond status in difficulty.

Those 2 miles will flex & stress ANY suspension you have running, thankfully I didn't have to lead today, actually got to be a tourist.

I met Sean & his brother Daniel out there & I couldn't have been lead up this craggy bitch by 2 better wheelers, these guys are young but these guys have skills, good skills out of the 15 or 20 places where the line you pick for wheel placement is key there were only 2 spots where I chose my own way up,, GREAT JOB GUYS !! & I'll add, Daniel has shot the Bronco Peak Connector, something that most of us including myself have yet to accomplish... Let the 3 wheel polka begin.......:eek::eek:

    DSC03917_7d7b20b34251d8a0890a8b8965c38d20043abe86.jpg

some of the craziest flexing I've seen in a long time came from the truck in front of me, ironically I didn't get any pics Sean ,sorry buddy. But his rear wheels were 4ft off the ground in more than a couple spots, not only is it not for prerunners but I wouldn't recommend it for a novice or beginner, no room for mistakes in a few spots & if you DO make one, it won't be a small one!!!!

If you look at the jeep in front, look at the wheels like that x2 a lot of the way up..

:Dfirst off, I just want to say thanks doug for coming out. Thanks for the compliments doug. I know we all had a great time. I think Angie caught the wheelin bug :D. That trail certainly got a lot tougher since I last took the taco (dec 09). I'm glad I have my CBI sliders, I landed on them more than a few times and all there is, is missing paint on them :D.

Towing the jeep with the taco is EASY! This thing tows great. Also this was my first time ever towing anything. I have 180lb of sandbags, a 60lb toolbox and an ice chest in the bed. I'm VERY impressed by this taco all around. Today I averaged 11mpg, offroad I get 10mpg (very normal and what I always get) and going up the mountains on the i8 are not very towing friendly, but I never had to floor it to maintain speed:eek:. (photo taken at my house, I sadly have none at the meeting spot)

Here are some pics of Doug's ride:

    My brother's TJ
    [IMG]

On top of Pancake Rock. Doug is right, its is a very odd angle getting up and down the rock, its scary as shit since there is no visibility in front and its VERY steep at the bottom.

Some rock formation on the top
    [IMG]

This is a draiage ditch on the side of the trail. This is what rain does to these trail and is why this trail becomes harder everytime I go. there is about a foot of dirt gone from uder it:eek:. And thats from this season of rain:eek::eek::eek:.

    Damage report:
TJ: brother ripped one of his steps off, but they need to come off for the rock sliders that are going on this week.
1 st gen: I think all he got was a small dent in the rocker pannel?
2 nd gen: Gaind more clearance on the factory plate under the front diff, small dent in rear bumper and lost some paint on my sliders:D.

So all in all I say it was a successful day. Where to next Doug?
